Short Bio
Molly Fan is currently a Senior Lecturer at the School of Education, University of Saint Joseph, and a doctor candidate of The Education University of Hong Kong. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology and acdemic master’s degree from Shanghai Normal University. She was a national funded exchange student and studied in the UK for one semester. Her research focuses on
the empirical study of integrating Artificial Intelligence (AI) into language education, exploring the effectiveness of educational technology approach in enhancing learners' language proficiency. For her future research, she intends to further deepen the empirical exploration of AI integrated instructional design in language education, also plans to conduct cross-regional comparative research on the effectiveness of educational technology integration in language classrooms, aiming to promote the innovative development of language education.

Modules
Year 1 Bachelor
This module examines the importance of professional standards and ethics in education with particular emphasis on ethical issues and its direct relevance to professional practice standards of teachers. It will examine different professional standards and ethical codes that are applicable in different regions and countries and their applicability to teaching practice in Macao. Students will enhance their understanding of the importance of professional development and how professional standards play a vital role in effective teaching practice.
This module explores the development of children's learning through the context of families and communities. Various theoretical and practical contexts will be explored on how children can be supported to build effective relationships. The module focuses on development for learning and teaching considering contemporary issues that may impact children's learning together with families and communities. All aspects of learning and teaching within early years will be examined through a problem-based learning approach and case studies in which students will analyse and apply knowledge of children, families and communities. Students will examine theoretical and contemporary real-life issues associated with the development of children's learning.
Year 2 Bachelor
This course examines contemporary cultures of childhood and how they have been shaped by changes in family structure, material conditions and a range of environmental factors that have an impact on children’s lives.
Year 3 Bachelor
This module introduces students to various important literature and poetry with a special focus on works that relate to public commentary and reporting of world events. A broad range of writing styles and approaches are canvassed and forms, strategies and techniques for effective writing are explored. A part of the module students write several short creative essays on selected themes, and for these works the critical importance of clearly defining the purpose and audience for a work and the need for revision and rewriting is emphasized. The best student works are published in the university newsletter.
This module will examine the importance of ethics in education with particular emphasis given to ethical issues with direct relevance to classroom teachers and teaching. This will include an examination of the different ethical codes that are applicable in different regions and counties and an evaluation of their applicability to teaching practice in Macau, both now and in the future. Students will also examine the need for professional development as a vital component of effective teaching, given the evolving challenges and demands in education.

這個課程將探索小學學生的特點,尤其是如何建立小學學習的學習環境。並在小學學習教育的重要理論觀點進行討論,以及如何開發適合各年齡層的學習目標和成果。此外,說明小學學習發展的教材,適當的評估方法,以及有效涵蓋所有小學學生的學習能力之應用。最後,父母和家人對小學學生學習的的支持。

This module is designed to equip prospective teachers with the skills relevant to teaching secondary school pupils. In this module, students will learn how to teach and assess learning outcomes appropriate to secondary pupils, with emphasis on the use of teaching methods and strategies in accordance with students’ age and educational needs. Students will learn to appreciate the importance of engaging students with a varied set of educational activities and how a range of approaches to assessment assist in the evaluation of learning for a diversity of students. Finally, the role of parents and family in supporting the learning of secondary pupils will be discussed as well as relationships with the wider community.
