Organization pattern
As the core research and development institution of the Macau Smart Health Research and Development Centre, SEHL adopts an open cooperation mode. It brings together like-minded healthcare builders to collaborate and innovate in healthcare for the elderly. The SEHL aims to build an extensive technology network of academics, healthcare companies, technologists and others to support innovation to improve healthcare for the elderly. The lab will not only be a physical research and development site, but also a virtual networked research platform. Any researcher based outside Macao can work on the networked virtual research platform. The Lab engages education, research, innovation and business to connect the brightest minds in education, innovative research and business. It believes that the best innovation happens when these four worlds come together in the Lab. The Lab will be uniquely placed at the centre of these disciplines, bringing together a community of innovators dedicated to improving the lives of older people. We will work with real-world challenges to create sustainable innovations for the benefit of the ageing population.
The laboratory is composed of a director, a chief scientist and several visiting chief scientists. There are two advisory committees: the Management Committee, composed of the partners, and the Academic Committee. The Management Committee is the decision-making body of the laboratory, which is responsible for determining the medium- and long-term planning of the construction and development of the centre, examining and approving major issues of the centre, coordinating problems in the construction and operation of the centre, and examining and approving candidates for the Academic Committee. The Academic Committee is composed of well-known domestic and foreign scholars in related fields. The Academic Committee guides the development direction and major project selection of the laboratory, and provides strategic guidance for the development of the laboratory.
