A year 2 Bachelor of Fashion Design student, USJ, Ka I Katherine Chan has been selected into the final of the fashion show “My Chinese Dream". Organised by Macau Productivity and Technology Transfer Center with Wynn which objective was to promote Macau fashion design industry development and offer opportunities for local fashion designers and students to showcase their talents. The theme of Chan’s design is “Wrapped in Dream”, based on a design of Chinese undergarment, which clearly symbolises Chinese kids. She put in the pattern of birdlife with expression of kids’ dreams. Chan additionally made use of cloak with her design to imply the absorption of Chinese national cultures in the dreams of kids.
Other students from USJ Bachelor of Fashion Design also participated in the show with their proposals.

Mr. Stefan Kuehn also expressed his enthusiasm about this conference which provide opportunities for enhancing the acceptance of people with intellectual disability and supporting the integration of their education in local universities.
Close to 300 participants attended the event in which speakers from different places like Singapore, Israel, Germany and United States organised workshops and talks for students, parents and teachers. These speakers include Dr. Boon Hock Lim, the Founding Chairman of Wings in Singapore; Ms. Mila Pham and Ms. Debra Ruh, Chair of the United Nations’ G3ict EmployAbility Task Force; Ms. Talia Kornhauser, Vice Chair of Special Olympics Israel; and Dr. Mario Voigts, Professor for digital transformation and politics of the Quadriga University of Applied Sciences Berlin to name a few.
University of Saint Joseph worked together with the physical education organisers at Colégio Diocesano De S. José (CDSJ 6) to facilitate sport and recreation for our Inclusion education guests who attended the Inclusive Education, Sport and Social Media Conference workshops held at USJ in the afternoon. In total 40 participants took part in five areas including badminton, ping pong, and basketball. In addition, the School of Education at USJ, with the cooperation of our instructors/professors and Bachelor of Education students organized a physical movement exercise with actions of controlled movements. Afterward, a series of musical rhythms and beat dances were performed to help the students with intellectual disability (ID) to freely express themselves with music and movement.
This event was to further the understanding to enable children and adults with an intellectual disability to develop their innate skills and self-esteem in an environment which is inclusive and supportive. We invite the world to come to Macau, sharing ideas, concepts and developing further “abilities” to create a more “INCLUSIVE WORLD”.

ABOUT THE TALK
This new series of talks ‘In the Beginning was the Word - and they spoke in tongues’ will focus on ancient languages which became relevant to particular Christian communities in their historical and cultural development but are much less known than languages such as Latin or Greek. Some of these ancient languages actually became more than just liturgical languages, turning themselves into a trademark of some communities, as it is the case of Slavonic for some Eastern churches. Moreover, they function as a reminder that the diversity inside the Church goes back to its very foundation, as portrayed at the Cenacle by the image of the disciples speaking in different languages but understanding each other. Some of these ancient languages, such as Coptic or Slavonic, are still used today by their religious communities, whereas others, such as Gothic or Old-Nubian, are only known to us from leftovers of New Testament translations or other ancient Christian texts.
Ancient European Languages: Gothic, Old Slavonic, Anglo-Saxon and Old Irish
This session will look at Gothic, an ancient Germanic language known from the translation of the New Testament by the Goth-Cappadocian bishop Wulphila in the fourth century AD, at Old Slavonic, a Slavic language still used today by some of the Eastern Churches as their liturgical language, and also at Anglo-Saxon and Old Irish, which fought for first place in the run for the Christianisation of the British Islands. These ancient languages became relevant within the religious context of Europe despite the overwhelming presence of Latin in the West and the preference for Greek in the East.

Ancient Eastern Languages: Syriac, Classical Armenian, and Old Georgian
This session will look at Classical Armenian and Old Georgian, which, though often forgotten, are two of the most ancient languages used by the early Christian communities that flourished in the Caucasus region.
We will also be looking at Syriac, and ancient language still used today, mainly as liturgical language, by several communities from Lebanon to the south of India. Only recently one of these Syriac speaking communities, the Chaldean Church, was allowed back into Mosul (Iraq) after being ousted by ISIS from its ancient see. Syriac is related to Aramaic, the language used by Jesus and his disciples in their daily lives in ancient Judea.

關於講座|About the Talk
As Principal Lau Sin Peng points out in her recent book, Portugal’s announcement of neutrality in WWII may have offered Macau a veneer of protection from Japanese military assault, but it did not shelter the tiny colonial city from the tumult and cataclysm around it. During the War of Resistance and especially following the fall of Hong Kong to the Japanese, not only was Macau a hotbed of spycraft and subversion, it was also a prime haven for patriotic mobilization and resistance efforts. How did Macau’s schools and teachers and students cope with the blunt realities of war-induced turmoil? What sacrifices did they make in the broader campaign for national survival? What role did they play in the upsurge of Chinese nationalism in the city and beyond? Principal Lau, a renowned educator and historian of Macau, shares with us her vast store of knowledge and insights on these subjects.

On 6th March, at the invitation of USJ, Stephenie Ao Man Wa, Head of Education and Dissemination Division, Ellie Lou Cam Kiu, Public Relations Officer and another officer from the Community Relations Department of Commission Against Corruption of the Macau SAR delivered a Seminar on Integrity for Tertiary Students in the university. They were warmly received by Prof. Vincent Cheng Yang, Vice Rector of USJ, Prof. Ansoumane Douty Diakite, Coordinator of BBA Programme and Teresa Loong, Director of Office for Student Affairs, Derek Wong, Administrative Officer and students of the School of Business of USJ.
During the seminar, Ms. Lou gave a presentation mainly to introduce Law No. 19/2009 (Prevention and Repression of Corruption in Private Sector). This was followed by an intensive discussion with the professors and students regarding the typologies of bribes under the law of Macau, procedures to file a complaint, and practical issues of corruption and fraud in real estate business. After the seminar, Vice Rector Yang expressed gratitude to the CCAC guests. Through this activity, he said, the staff and students were able to improve their understanding of the law in Macau on the prevention of corruption and, in particular, it could help the students developing their capacity to reject corruptive practices after they graduate from the university and start working in private sectors.
