Strengthening Ties: USJ Macao and Kasetsart University Explore Collaborative Opportunities

On January 28, 2025, Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs and Internationalisation at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ Macao), conducted a visit to Kasetsart University (KU) in Bangkok, Thailand. This engagement involved substantive discussions with the leadership of KU’s Faculty of Business Administration and the International Affairs Division, aimed at gaining a comprehensive understanding of the strategic visions of both institutions and identifying potential avenues for collaboration.

The meeting facilitated insightful dialogues, underscoring the enthusiasm of both universities for prospective partnerships. Key areas identified for future collaboration include faculty and student mobility initiatives, joint research endeavors, co-hosting of academic conferences and seminars, and the development of dual-degree programs alongside innovative curricular offerings. A notable outcome of this dialogue is the expressed intention to establish a collaborative initiative between the Faculty of Business and Law at USJ and the Faculty of Business Administration at KU. Both parties conveyed confidence that this partnership would be mutually advantageous, fostering academic and scholarly pursuits while creating valuable opportunities for students and faculty members.

Representatives from Kasetsart University included: Asst. Prof. Suparerk Sooksmarn – Associate Dean for Strategic Administration and Physical Development; Asst. Prof. Yodmanee Tepanon – Associate Dean for Standards Development and International Strategy & Acting Committee Member of the BBA Program; Assoc. Prof. Waranpong Boonsiritomachai – Head of the Department of Management; Asst. Prof. Paitoon Chetthamrongchai – Department of Marketing & Committee Member of the KUBIM Program and Ms. Jittima Krissadanont – HR Officer. From the International Affairs Division, attendees included: Ms. Pratthana Thirakiettikun – Head of International Collaboration and Networking Section and Ms. Kansiree Chunwattana – Foreign Relations Officer.

The discussions concluded with a mutual commitment to continue exploring collaborative initiatives, paving the way for a fruitful relationship that enhances educational opportunities and academic research across both universities.
