The Universidade Católica Portuguesa (UCP) in Braga, Portugal, in collaboration with the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) in Macao, has launched the Bachelor of Data Science and Technology, which will be delivered through online distance learning (e-learning).

The field of data science and technology is a rapidly expanding area across various sectors, with considerable demand in the job market. This programme allows the exploration of both traditional and advanced techniques for extracting knowledge from data to support decision-making processes in different organisational and market settings.

The Bachelor of Data Science and Technology provides comprehensive training in computer programming, artificial intelligence, and descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics, along with technologies for processing large volumes of data, enabling students to develop both analytical thinking and practical application skills. The aim is to prepare professionals, such as data scientists and engineers, for careers in data science and analytics.

The teaching and learning process in distance education utilises virtual classrooms and a specialised e-learning platform, adopting the virtual pedagogical model of the Portuguese Open University.

Students are only required to have access to a computer with a broadband internet connection, English proficiency and high motivation to interact online and learn!

Diploma:

The Universidade Católica Portuguesa awards the bachelor’s diploma, which is fully recognised in Portugal, Macao, and internationally (Bologna Convention and its member countries).
