Course Description:
Quantum Communication and the related technologies represent together with AI, the most prominent areas to invest in future. The most advanced countries in the world are investing significant amount of capital on the future technologies based of Quantum Technologies. While Quantum Mechanics is 100 years old, the development of Quantum Technologies is relatively new.
In this course, of informative character and without mathematics involved, we will explain the basic concepts of Quantum Mechanics and the fundamental aspects of Quantum Technologies and Quantum Communication.

A certificate of completion will be issued to participants who fulfill an attendance rate of 70% and complete all the coursework requirements.

Participants should attend the class on time. Local participants attending face-to-face lectures must sign on the paper attendance sheet with their ID card (no proxy signatures allowed); Non-local participants attending lectures online must log in to the online platform under their real name and attendance status will be recorded by the programme coordinator online. Sign in period of each session will be closed 30 minutes after class starts. The tardy participant will be recorded as absent from the class.

Applicant who needs to take leave from class or early leave should notify the Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office with relevant supporting document(s). Please complete and submit the “Leave Application Form for Lifelong Learning Programmes” to the Office before leave is taken (download form: click here).

Participants who fulfill the attendance requirements, complete and pass the course will be awarded a certificate. Local participants will receive a physical certificate, while non-local participants will be issued an electronic certificate. If non-local students wish to obtain a paper certificate, please submit a request by email to the Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office. All costs and risks associated with mailing services (if any) shall be borne and assumed by the recipient.

If a local participant’s certificate needs to be collected up by another individual, the applicant and the proxy must both fill out and sign the “Authorisation Letter for Lifelong Learning Programme Certificate Collection” (download form: click here) and provide the identity card of both party, either in person or in copy, to the Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office for collection.

ONLINE LEARNING REMARKS (ONLY APPLICABLE FOR NON-LOCAL PARTICIPANTS)

Online lectures are only applicable to non-local learners. Non-local participants must prepare the basic equipment required for video conferencing (such as a computer or tablet device with a built-in or external video function, a microphone, and speakers/headphones) before the class.

When participating in online lectures, learners must ensure that their equipment is functioning properly and that the surroundings are appropriate. During class, learners must keep their video cameras on at all times to prove that they are attending the class in person.

Learners must send an email to programme coordinator notifying them of any disruptions or unusual circumstances that prevent them from attending or participating in class as usual. Supporting documentation must be submitted as proof that the equipment failure or disconnection was caused by a force majeure occurrence.

The class will be recorded throughout and managed online by programme coordinator to ensure that the class runs smoothly.
HOW TO APPLY
A three-step flow of “Registration, Notification, Enrolment” applies.
Applicants should first register (through methods listed in the “Registration” section on our website) during the application period of a Programme. Accepted Registrants will be notified through Email and they must complete the application process which is listed in the email content.
A certificate of completion will be issued for participants fulfilling an attendance rate of 70%.
Withdrawal applications must follow stated policies.
Programmes may be cancelled due to insufficient registration.
