A Delegation Visits Chongqing Normal University to Foster Inclusive Education Dialogues between Chongqing, Hong Kong and Macao.
Supported by the Education and Youth Development Bureau of Macau (DSEDJ), Prof. Susannah Sun from the School of Education at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) led five students to Chongqing Normal University (CQNU) for an academic exchange from April 5 to 10. The exchange brought together experts in special needs and inclusive education from Chongqing, Hong Kong, and Macau, including Professor SIN Kuen Fung Kenneth from the Education University of Hong Kong, alongside the team of Associate Professor Xu Suqiong from Chongqing Normal University.

The first day of the event was held at CQNU, where professors and students from the three regions shared their research findings through academic presentations. On the second day, prior to visiting local schools, the delegation visited the School of Educational Sciences at CQNU. Hosted by Huang Li, Director of the Special Center at the Special Education Department, the session began with a guided tour of the Special Education Department and Rehabilitation Center.

The agenda featured formal addresses by Xiong Yawei, Associate Director of Office for International Cooperation and Exchanges (Office for Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs) at CQNU, and Peng Wenbo, Associate Dean of the School of Educational Sciences. Following this, regional developments in special and inclusive education were introduced by Wei Shouhong, Head of the Special Education Department at CQNU; Prof. Kenneth Sin (Sin Kuen Fung), Director of the Centre for Special Educational Needs and Inclusive Education at the Education University of Hong Kong; and Dr. Sun from USJ.

Over the subsequent days, the delegation focused on practical site visits, conducting in-classroom observations at Bai Cao Yuan Kindergarten, Bishan Special Education School, and Jialing Primary School. Through these concrete teaching cases, the delegation gained a deeper understanding of how local campuses implement inclusive education across different educational stages, engaging in detailed professional discussions on curriculum design.
This trip provided a valuable platform for the USJ delegation to engage in direct dialogue with experts from Chongqing and Hong Kong, allowing them to learn about diverse models of inclusive education through real-world practice.
