The seminar was organised on 13 October by the Lusophone Arbitration and Mediation Association (ALAM) with the collaboration of the University of Saint Joseph’s(USJ) Faculty of Business and Law and the Portuguese Arbitration Association(APA). Distinguished arbitrators from the Portuguese Arbitration Association took part in a discussion moderated by the Vice-President of ALAM, Dr. Bruno Beato Ascenção.

174 arbitrators, lawyers and law students from Mainland China, Macau, Hong Kong, Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Spain, France, Guinea Bissau, Mozambique and Portugal participated in a seminar on Arbitration in Portugal.

With this seminar, ALAM intended to reinforce the knowledge of the Portuguese reality in the field of Arbitration and Mediation by lawyers, arbitrators and jurists from Macau, Mainland China and Portuguese-speaking countries.

This participation and interest confirms Macau’s comparative advantages in terms of knowledge of the legal systems of China and Portuguese-speaking Countries, including its promotion as one of the places of arbitration for the resolution of possible conflicts arising from trade between entrepreneurs from the Participating Countries of the Macau Forum.

Together with its partners, the Lusophone Association of Arbitration and Mediation will continue to work to strengthen and expand its activities. The seminar had the institutional support of Forum Macau, the Portugal-China Chamber of Commerce & Industry, and the distinguished speakers, Professor Dário Moura Vicente, Dr. Sofia Martins, and Dr. Filipe Vaz Pinto..

ALAM wishes to express its gratitude to the Macau Academy of Alternative Dispute Resolution at the University of Saint Joseph as well as to all participants for their tremendous support.
