Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences Supports “Strong Families” Training to Strengthen Family Resilience

The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences of USJ held a three-day “Strong Families” training programme organised by ARTM in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC).
The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) is pleased to support the three-day “Strong Families” training programme organised by ARTM in collaboration with the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). This training was also supported by Artyzen Grand Lapa Macau and the Macao Social Welfare Bureau.
The evidence-based programme, developed by UNODC, equips professionals with practical family skills interventions to support families facing resource constraints or adversity. It aims to improve parenting practices, promote resilience and enhance child wellbeing.
The training was held on 4 – 6 August 2026 at USJ campus and delivered by Ms. Shella Marquez (National Officer, UNODC Philippines) and Ms. Watjana Arunrangsi (Programme Associate, Regional Office). ARTM recognises families as a vital part of the recovery process and acknowledges that they themselves require support when affected by substance use-related challenges. This training strengthens frontline capacity to respond more effectively.
The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences is committed to strengthening the value and function of the family through in-service training and research, and to working with different stakeholders. Supporting this initiative reflects our ongoing dedication to evidence-informed family interventions and collaborative community practice.
