About the talk
Included in the “1
st USJ Forum of Counseling and Psychotherapy”, this round table will address the theme of the professional borders and identities in the field of psychology and counselling. The access to the professions of "psychologist", "clinical psychologist" or "counselors" is not always clear for most of undergraduate and graduate students. The University gives to the students an academic certification. But to what professions they can access with that academic certification? In the same way, who can access to the different professions? This last question is particularly relevant to the "counselors" as different professionals are doing counseling (e.g. psychologists, social workers and teachers). But even for that, a Master in Counseling shouldn't be required? On the other hand, what is expected for each professional to do? What can a clinical psychologist do that a psychologist, not clinical, cannot? And a counselor, what he can and not do? And, more that, how can they articulate and be complementary to each other? And finally, who regulates this? We know that the "Health Bureau Service" regulates the access to the "clinical psychology". And what about the "psychological intervention" or "counseling intervention", who's making or should make the regulation? For this round table dedicated to the USJ population (MCP students and alumni, bachelor in psychology students, professors of the MCP and bachelor in Psychology) we invited representatives of associations in this area (both from Macau and Hong Kong) to help us to find some answers to these questions.

string(1305) "The Macau Ricci Institute (MRI) and the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) organized a two-day symposium on 3 and 4 November 2016, during which, scholars from different places met to discussed the topic of “The Challenge of Moral Leadership”. On 5 November, a workshop on “Responsible Leadership” was organized in the NAPE campus of USJ.
The symposium and workshop was a three-day-event to explore the topic of Moral Leadership. In recent years, the focus on corporate ethical behaviour and, in particular, the ethical behaviour of corporate leaders has intensified, therefore, MRI and USJ organized this symposium which aimed to put forward realistic and pragmatic scenarios to implement key concepts for the exercise of responsible leadership. The workshop was designed to help participants identify key responsible leadership principles which shape quality management practice, drawing insights from East and West wisdom traditions to address contemporary management challenges.
This event resulted as a platform for sharing and exchanging ideas between 15 international scholars and 30 workshop participants.

The Academic Fellowship Programme provides faculty members from universities that have cooperative agreements with CIT the opportunity to conduct collaborative research with Japanese researchers. The fellowship covers all expenses and provides a stipend for participants to stay in Tokyo for a period up to 90 days. CIT is the oldest private technical university in Japan, and actively participates in international exchange programmes intended to raise the industrial, academic, and technological standards of the countries involved.
USJ and CIT have a cooperative agreement that allows regular student exchanges and collaborative workshops at both institutions. It is hoped that more USJ faculty members will be able to participate in the Academic Fellowship Programme in the coming years."

Recently, Prof. Vincent Yang, Pro-Rector of USJ, was interviewed by Mingpao Daily and several other Chinese press to comment on the signing of an Agreement between China and Canada on Sharing and Return of Forfeited Assets during Premier Li Keqiang’s official visit to Canada in late September, 2016 as well as the beginning of discussion of an extradition treaty between the two countries. Prof. Yang indicated that the signing of China’s first treaty on the sharing and return of forfeited asset is a significant ground breaking development, which will help law enforcement agencies work together in a joint effort to fight cross-border crime including organized crime and corruption. The beginning of discussion on extradition treaty between the two governments is also encouraging, given that Canada does not want to become a safe heaven for Chinese fugitives involved in major corruption and economic crimes, and an extradition treaty can provide a solid legal ground for the timely removal of fugitives.

About the Talk
The Jesuits in China and beyond played a fundamental role in the formation of worldwide interest in Chinese millenary artistic legacy. Thus, they have also contributed to the celebrated artistic style called chinoiserie that arose in France during the 18th century. As illustrated by the inventories of their goods, Jesuits from Asia to America ranked among the most compulsive commissioners and collectors of Chinese artistic objects, such as porcelain, silk tissues and paintings. Jesuit chronicles and further documentation are replete with information regarding the technical, artistic and commercial value of Chinese art on a global scale. The book China Illustrata (1667) by the Swiss Jesuit Athanasius Kircher was indeed one of the most influential books in shaping the conception Europeans had of China. In his position as rector of the Collegio Romano, he had a privileged access to the reports sent to Rome by the Jesuit missionaries in China and who had been previously trained at the same institution. The Jesuit long presence at Peking Court and the transfer of the Painter’s Academy from Japan to Macau in 1614 were further decisive to the better knowledge and overall appreciation of Chinese art and artists."

About the Talk
Environmental degradation and one of its effects, global warming, have worsened the inequalities between the rich and the poor among prople and nations. The Catholic Church has demonstrated its deep commitment to social justice visibly since the Vatican ||, while the most recent Encyclical, Laudato Si1, offered by Pope Francis moves the Church in an unprecedented manner toward the coupling of sustainability and religion to address global inequalities. Social documentaries, in general, represent voices for justice and the common good shared by all major religions, and the documents of the Catholic Church highlighted in the paper offer a concrete trajectory for global justice that we see in cinematic form.
About the Movie
Bali is an island of pure cultural magic. But where do all the ceremonies, art pieces, music and culture come from? How do Balinese learn to perform and create? Why do they do it? Go behind the scenes with interviews of the artists and creators themselves to better understand all Balinese art and culture. In this colorful documentary you will see a wide variety of professional and personal performances as well as encounter the workshops and process of creation that goes into dance, painting, music, composing, sculpture, puppets and even kite building. Bali: Art and Creation captures the whole island from the spectacle of The Bali Arts Festival in Denpasar to intimate village ceremonies that few outsiders will ever see.

Daniel Filipe Farinha, graduate of Master of Information Technology, USJ, has won the award, Prémio de Investigação Científica e Desenvolvimento Tecnológico para Pós-Graduados (研究生科技研發獎), from FDCT. This award is held every two years and the latest result was announced in September, 2016. Daniel’s research thesis is titled “GROKYA: A PRIVACY-FRIENDLY FRAMEWORK FOR UBIQUITOUS COMPUTING”.
“The work was motivated by the significant threat to personal privacy posed by increasingly connected personal and "smart" home devices, in what is called the Internet-of-Things (IoT), in conjunction with the growing trend for enterprises to collect and process large amounts of consumer data, also known as Big Data analytics.
The thesis proposes a solution in the form of a new framework that gives consumers more control, by providing them with the personal infrastructure to collect, control and process their own data, whilst also allowing enterprises and third-parties to collaborate with the consumer infrastructure to extract mutual value, including monetisation of the data, without infringing on personal privacy.”
According to Daniel, he is planning to continue working on this project as part of his PhD research at USJ.
More information about the project can be found at:
