The Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy is hosting the public lecture “Quo Vadis? —— Where does Nicaea I lead us?” on 20 February from 6:30 PM in the
St. Joseph’s Seminary Chapel.
About the Talk:
In 325, the Church held its first ecumenical council in the city of Nicaea. Among all of its achievements, the first one to mention should be the initial version of the Nicene Creed. Ironically, the Creed formulated on the Council is not the full version that we recite each day in the Church. That means that the Council has by no means settled the Trinitarian controversy at that time. What does the fact mean to us? Living in a diversified world, can we learn anything from the First Council of Nicaea in seeking the unified faith in the one true God? In this lecture, let us dive into the ancient world of the early Church, and let the Council tell us where we should go.
