The International Media Management Academic Association (IMMAA) is pleased to announce its 2026 Annual Conference, taking place from 14 – 17 October 2026 in the vibrant city of Macau.
Hosted by the Macau Portuguese and English Press Association (Associação de Imprensa em Português e Inglês de Macau – AIPIM) and co-hosted by the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao, this landmark event will gather leading scholars, researchers, and media practitioners from around the globe.
Set against the unique backdrop of Macau, a historic crossroads of East and West, the conference theme, “Bridging Cultures in Media Management”, invites a deep exploration of the shifting dynamics in the global media landscape. As the industry grapples with digital disruption, the rise of artificial intelligence, and evolving platform ecosystems, the 2026 conference aims to foster critical dialogue on how these challenges are experienced across different cultural, political, and regulatory systems.
IMMAA seeks to build lasting bridges between media research traditions in diverse contexts. This conference provides a uniquely valuable opportunity to share research on one of the world’s most dynamic media environments in China and the broader Asian region.
The program will feature keynote lectures, thematic panels, and specialised sessions focused on:
- Digital Transformation: The impact of AI, platformisation, and algorithmic governance.
- Global Perspectives: Comparative studies between East-West and North-South media models.
- Industry Sustainability: Evolving business models, media policy, and leadership in the creative industries.
- Regional Focus: Dedicated tracks on media studies and industries within China and Asia.
