A delegation from the United Front Work Department of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, and the Macau Guizhou General Association visited the USJ on the 31 of May, 2026.
A delegation from the United Front Work Department of the Guizhou Provincial Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Guizhou Provincial Department of Education, and the Macau Guizhou General Association visited the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) on the 31st of May, 2026. The parties held discussions and signed an education cooperation agreement, establishing multiple collaborative projects and opening a new chapter in higher education cooperation between Guizhou and Macau.
The delegation was led by Miss Wang Fang, Deputy Minister of the UFWD of Guizhou Province, and Mr. Bai Zhen, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Education of Guizhou Province. Other members included Mr. Long Wei, Director of the Personnel Department of the UFWD of Guizhou Province; Mr. Kong Xianglong, Director of the UFWD of Guizhou Province; and Mr. Li Yuankun, Level IV Researcher of the Department of Education of Guizhou Province. The Macau Guizhou General Association Federation was represented by its President, Mr. Ao Pak Loi, and Secretary General, Mr. David, Ao Ka Wai. The University of Saint Joseph warmly received the delegation with representatives including Acting Rector, Dr. Alejandro Salcedo Garcia, Vice-Rector, Dr. Teresa Loong, Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, Prof. Jenny Phillips, Head of Domestic Student Recruitment Office, Mr. Ben Lei, Assistant Head of Domestic Student Recruitment Office, Mr. David Yang, Senior Officer of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office Miss Jenny Mok, and Officer of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office Mr. Dickson Kyee.
During the discussion, Acting Rector Dr. Salcedo delivered a welcome speech, stating that USJ places great emphasis on educational cooperation with mainland China and looks forward to deepening collaboration with Guizhou’s universities and educational institutions through this signing. Vice-Rector Dr. Loong stated in her speech that this cooperation coincides with the comprehensive advancement of the national “15th Five-Year Plan” and that USJ will seize the opportunity to deepen its cooperation with Guizhou in the areas of higher education and talent cultivation.
Deputy Director Bai Zhen formally invited the USJ to participate in the China-ASEAN Education Exchange Week, along with a series of related activities. This signing marks the entry of USJ’s cooperation with Guizhou Province into a substantive stage. USJ will continue to leverage Macao’s advantages as a China-Portuguese-speaking countries platform and an international education hub, deepening educational collaboration with Guizhou and ASEAN member states to jointly cultivate high-quality professionals with international perspectives.
