USJ Macao and the New York Film Academy (NYFA) met on 20 May 2026, to discuss future collaboration opportunities aimed at strengthening education in filmmaking and content creation.

The University of Saint Joseph Macao (USJ Macao) and the New York Film Academy (NYFA) met on 20 May 2026, to discuss future collaboration opportunities aimed at strengthening education in filmmaking and content creation. Following the meeting, both parties signed a Letter of Intent (LOI), demonstrating their shared commitment to pursue practical academic and training initiatives together.

Building on USJ Macao’s established experience in filmmaking education, the partnership will further leverage and expand existing strengths through the university’s current program in Communication and Media. This evolution reflects a broader approach to filmmaking as a cross-disciplinary skillset including integrated across the Communication and Media curriculum, enhancing graduate readiness for the evolving needs of the global media industry.

The discussions highlighted a strong shared commitment to future cooperation, particularly through student and faculty exchange and the “collision” of ideas to accelerate both creative and technical development. The parties also explored multiple academic collaboration pathways, including joint programs in filmmaking and/or content creation, double degree and consecutive degree pathways, and the co-delivery of short training initiatives such as a prospective four-week intensive summer programme and targeted workshops. In addition, both sides agreed that future programme design should align with emerging industry trends, including AI-enabled filmmaking workflows and prompt-writing skills, which may form key components of the collaboration.

As an immediate outcome, the LOI signed during the meeting formalises the parties’ shared intent to further explore collaboration and progress toward concrete project implementation. USJ Macao and NYFA look forward to continuing discussions and advancing the potential initiatives identified during the meeting, with additional details to be shared as plans are finalised.
