The USJ Doctoral Forum in Information Systems 2026, co-organised by the Doctoral School and the Institute for Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS) took place on 24 April.

The USJ Doctoral Forum in Information Systems 2026, co-organised by the Doctoral School and the Institute for Data Engineering and Science (IDEAS) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), recently took place, bringing together researchers and students to share their work and engage in discussions. One of the highlights of the event was the keynote talk by Professor José Henrique Mamede on Intelligent Organizational Ecosystems.

During the Q&A session, Professor Mamede was asked about the impact of remote tutoring on the quality of research produced by his students. He acknowledged the exceptional quality of his students’ work, stating that, in his view, the fact that tutoring is mostly or entirely remote does not affect the quality of research. He expressed his pride in the work of his numerous doctoral and master’s students, highlighting their ability to produce high-quality research despite the remote nature of their interactions.

The forum also featured a presentation of the Laboratory of Applied Neurosciences (LAN/USJ) and doctoral presentations by PhD candidates, including Ivy Zeng, Chi Man Chao, and Kin Tong Yuen, showcasing their research on various topics in Information Systems centred on the local context of Macao.

The Doctoral Forum provided a valuable platform for researchers to share their work, receive feedback, and engage with peers and experts in the field. The event successfully showcased the quality of research in Information Systems and highlighted the potential for collaboration and knowledge sharing among researchers and students.
