USJ Macao took part in QUALIFICA, one of Portugal’s leading fairs for education, vocational training, youth engagement, and employability.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao took part in QUALIFICA, one of Portugal’s leading fairs for education, vocational training, youth engagement, and employability, held at Exponor from 25–28 March 2026.
As a major event in Portugal’s educational calendar, QUALIFICA brought together 170 exhibitors and 45,000 visitors, including secondary and university students, parents, teachers, school counsellors, academics, and employers. The fair’s strong reputation in career guidance and institutional outreach made it an effective platform for scholarly exchange and student recruitment.
USJ’s presence showcases its unique status as the only higher education institution from Asia at the fair. In line with the University’s strategic focus on internationalisation and academic cooperation, USJ featured exhibits in both the general institutional area and – for the second consecutive year – the Postgraduate and Executive Pavilion, a dedicated space for master’s and doctoral programmes.
A key highlight of USJ’s engagement was the promotion of the new full postgraduate scholarship scheme for international students, supported by the Macao SAR Government and launched in the 2026/2027 academic year. The initiative, which provides comprehensive financial support for postgraduate study in Macao, drew considerable interest from attendees. Enquiries focused on entry requirements, programme structures, supervision arrangements, eligibility, application procedures, and the career and mobility opportunities that study in Macao can offer.
The USJ delegation included Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, Professor Álvaro Barbosa; senior staff from the International Affairs Office, Mr Francisco Peixoto and Ms Teresinha Fok; and Ms Celeste Neves from the Academic Affairs Office. Through informed discussions on curriculum, research opportunities, and institutional support, the team helped prospective students and their advisers make evidence-informed decisions about pursuing international study.
USJ acknowledges the support of the Macao SAR Education and Youth Development Bureau and the Education Fund of Macao, which made its participation at QUALIFICA possible.
