Good morning. Or rather, a blessed and joyful graduation morning to every one of you.

It is a real pleasure to welcome you all to this ceremony, where Saint Joseph University bids farewell to the Class of 2026. Your presence here today matters. It means you support us; you acknowledge the work we have done together, and you share in our passion to celebrate what young people and education can achieve. So, thank you for being here.

Today, together with more than 300 fellow graduates, as you cross this stage to receive your master’s and PhD degrees, we also recognize and celebrate our bachelor’s and PGDE graduates, and we join you all in your celebration and thanksgiving.

You have completed examinations that tested your mind. You have written theses that demanded your discipline. You have endured late nights, early mornings, moments of doubt, and flashes of brilliance. You have earned your degree, every single one of you. But let this truth live in your heart: every degree conferred today on this stage rests upon the sacrifices of your parents, your family members, and especially those who have walked beside you as your partner in life. 

To the parents, partners, and loved ones. You may now exhale. You have carried more than anyone knows. While they studied late and took exams, you held things together. You cooked, cleaned, hugged crying kids, stretched budgets to pay their tuition fees, and gave so much without asking for anything back. Today, no cap or gown, but this degree is yours, too; your love is written all over it. So do not hold back: enjoy this day. This win is theirs and yours. We see you, we thank you, and we honour you. 

We are profoundly grateful to the Macau SAR Government, the Liaison Office of the Central People’s Government in Macau, and the DSEDJ for their continued support for the University of Saint Joseph over the years. Your collective collaboration has been instrumental in our journey and invaluable to our growth and success. 

I would also like to extend a special word of gratitude to our Chancellor, His Excellency Bishop Stephen Lee, for his spiritual guidance and prayers. His commitment to excellence and success has guided this institution through both calm and challenging times, laying the foundation for all that we celebrate today. 

I would also like to congratulate and thank our faculty and all other staff members. From the security guards who have kept our campus safe, the cleaners who have given you a welcoming environment, the various administrative office units, who work tirelessly behind the scenes to keep everything running smoothly, to our professors, who have gone above and beyond to support you, who have been a source of guidance, knowledge, and care throughout your journey with us. Each of you has played an immense role in who they have become today. This celebration belongs to you as well. Thank you.

Now, Class of 2026, let me speak directly to you.

You have just completed a journey at a university unlike any other. USJ carries the legacy of Saint Paul’s College, founded in 1594, a bridge between China and the world, built on Scientia et Virtus. You have mastered critical thinking, research, and discipline. But let us be honest: any good university can do that. Any institution can train your mind, fill you with data, and send you into the workforce. 

However, that is not why we exist. And that is not why we celebrate today. Saint Joseph University is not a factory that stamps out degrees. We are not a career-training centre. We do not count our success by how many of our graduates grow rich or powerful. No, what we celebrate today is something far deeper, because at USJ, we did not simply prepare you for a career. Our identity, our tradition, our very soul, is different. We have prepared you for life. We have given you a lens, a lens through which to see reality, to distinguish what is true from what only appears to be true, from what is claimed to be true, and from what is not true at all. This is the lens that will guide you through a world of indifference and personal gain. 

The great Elie Wiesel, a Holocaust survivor and Nobel laureate, once said, and I quote:

“The opposite of love is not hate, it is indifference. 

The opposite of art is not ugliness, it is indifference. 

The opposite of faith is not heresy, it is indifference. 

And the opposite of life is not death, it is indifference. 

Because when we are indifferent, we turn people into nothing.”

You have spent four, seven, nine, or even more years here with us. And after all these years, we cannot help but ask ourselves: Have we succeeded or failed in what we set out to do? And the real truth is that you will be the one to answer that question, because at USJ, we measure our success not by your salary, your title, or your fame. Our success is measured by who you will become, by your refusal to be indifferent in a world that rewards personal gain, by the integrity of your choices, the kindness of your actions, and the courage of your convictions. 

That is the USJ difference. And if you leave this auditorium today without understanding that difference, if you think your diploma is merely a passport to personal gain, then we, the entire USJ community, will have failed you. And worse: you will have failed yourselves. Because the real test was never in the classroom. It is out there, in a world of indifference.

So here is my charge to you today.

The world will offer you success: money, titles, comfort. Go ahead, build a career. Earn a good living. Enjoy the fruit of your work. There is nothing wrong with any of that.

But remember this: 

When you rise, help someone else rise too.

When you succeed, be a reason for someone else to hope.

When you lead, bring others along with you.

When you earn, open your hands and share.

The world you are about to enter is not a quiet library. It is loud, messy, and often unfair. You will face decisions that have no clear right answer. You will meet people who profit from indifference. You will be tempted to look away, because looking away is easier. But you are not ordinary graduates. You carry a lens that sees truth, and a heart that refuses to turn people into nothing. So when the easy path calls you, remember this day. Remember our faces. Remember that you were formed for more.

These are the qualities you have acquired alongside your degree. The pace of change in our world has never been faster, but it will likely never again be slower than it is today. So celebrate today. Take pride in your achievement. Hug your parents, your husband, your wife, your kids. Take photos. Laugh and celebrate. You have earned this moment.

But beginning tomorrow, live as a graduate of Saint Joseph University. Live as someone who sees. Someone who acts. Someone who refuses to turn anyone into nothing. Remember that you are the reason for others. That is a life well lived. That is a well-made graduate.

你們完成了考驗心智的考試；你們撰寫了要求嚴謹與自律的論文；你們承受過熬夜與早起、經歷過懷疑的時刻，也迎來過靈光乍現的片刻。你們已經獲得學位——每一位你們都真正做到。然而，請讓這份真實深植於你們的心：今天在這個典禮舞台上授予的每一個學位，都建立在你們父母與家人所作的犧牲之上，尤其也包括那些一直在你們身邊同行、相伴你們人生的人。

致各位家長、伴侶及摯愛的親友們。此刻，你們可以鬆一口氣了。你們所承擔的重擔，遠比任何人想像的都要沉重。當他們熬夜讀書、應考之際，是你們維繫著家庭的運作。你們下廚、打掃、擁抱哭泣的孩子，為了支付學費而精打細算，付出如此之多卻從不求回報。今天，雖然沒有學位帽和學士袍，但這張文憑同樣屬於你們——你們的愛已深深鐫刻其中。所以，請不要有所保留：盡情享受這一天吧。這份成就屬於他們，也屬於你們。我們看見你們的付出，我們感謝你們，向你們致敬。

我們由衷感謝澳門特別行政區政府、中央人民政府駐澳門聯絡辦公室，以及教育及青年發展局多年來對聖若瑟大學的持續支持，你們的共同協作在我們的發展旅程中發揮了關鍵作用，對我們的成長與成功而言更是極為寶貴。

我亦想特別向本校校監李斌生主教閣下致謝，感謝他給予的精神指引與祈禱。他對卓越與成功的堅持，引領本校度過平靜與艱難的時期，為我們今日所慶祝的一切奠定了基礎。 

我也要向我們的教職員及所有工作人員表示祝賀與感謝。從守護校園安全的保安人員，到為你們打造舒適、溫馨學習環境的清潔人員；從各行政部門幕後持續工作的同仁，到所有在教學現場以超越期待的精神支持你們的教授們——你們一路以來都成為同學們指引、知識與關懷的泉源。你們每一位在塑造同學們今天所成為的樣子上，扮演了不可或缺的角色。這場慶典同樣屬於你們。謝謝你們。

接下來，2026屆的各位同學，我想直接向你們說幾句。

你們剛完成了一段旅程——而這段旅程並不是一般意義上的大學生活。聖若瑟大學承繼聖保祿學院的悠久傳統：該學院創立於1594年，成為連結中國與世界的橋樑，並以「Scientia et Virtus（知識與德行）」為精神核心。你們在這裡鍛鍊了批判思考、研究能力與自律精神。不過，也請讓我們坦率地說：任何一所好的大學，都能做到這些——它能訓練你的思維，灌注你知識的資料，並把你送進職場。

然而，這並非我們存在的意義；也不是我們今天慶祝的原因。聖若瑟大學並非一家量產學位的工廠；我們也不是職業訓練中心。我們並不以畢業生中有多少人變得富有或權勢顯赫來衡量成功。不，我們今天慶祝的，是更深層的意義，因為在聖若瑟大學，我們不僅僅是為你們的職業生涯做準備。我們的身份認同、我們的傳統，乃至我們的靈魂，都與眾不同。我們為你們的人生做好了準備。我們賦予你們一扇視窗，一扇用以洞察現實的視窗，藉此分辨何為真實，何者僅是表面真實，何者被宣稱是真實，以及何者根本並非真實。這扇視窗將引導你們穿行於這個充斥著冷漠與個人利益的世界之中。

諾貝爾和平獎得主、也是大屠殺倖存者——艾利·威瑟爾（Elie Wiesel）曾說——我引用他的話：

「愛的反面不是恨，而是冷漠。

藝術的反面不是醜陋，而是冷漠。

信仰的反面不是異端，而是冷漠。

生命的反面不是死亡，而是冷漠。

因為當我們冷漠以對時，便將他人化為虛無。」

你們在此度過了四年、七年、九年，甚至更長的時間。歷經這段歲月，我們不禁自問：我們是否完成了我們當初立下的目標？成功了，還是失敗了？而真正的答案，將由你們來回答。因為在聖大，我們衡量成功的方式並不在於你們的薪資、職銜或名聲。我們以你們會成為怎樣的人來衡量——以你們在這個崇尚個人利益的世界中，是否有拒絕冷漠的勇氣來衡量；以你們選擇的正直、你們行動的善意、你們信念的堅定來衡量。

這就是聖大的差異。如果你們從今天的會場走出去，卻沒有真正理解這份差異；如果你們認為你們的文憑只是通往個人利益的入場券——那麼，我們整個聖大社群都將是失敗的。更嚴重的是，你們也將辜負你們自己。因為真正的考驗從來不在教室裡；真正的考驗在外面的世界——一個充滿冷漠的世界。

因此，今天我要給你們的囑咐是：

世界將向你們提供成功：金錢、頭銜、安逸。你們可以去追求，去建立事業，賺取豐厚的收入，享受勞動的果實——這一切並沒有錯。

但請記住：

當你們站起來，也要扶助別人站起來。

當你們獲得成功，也要成為他人希望的理由。

當你們成為領導者，也要把別人一起帶往前方。

當你們有所收穫，也要敞開你們的雙手去分享。

你們即將踏入的世界，並非一間寧靜的圖書館。那裡喧囂、混亂，且往往不公。你們將面臨沒有明確正確答案的抉擇；會遇見那些從冷漠中獲利的人；也會忍不住想轉過頭去，因為轉過頭去更輕鬆。但你們並非普通的畢業生。你們擁有能洞見真相的眼光，以及絕不將他人視為無物的心。因此，當輕鬆的道路向你們招手時，請記住這一天。請記住我們的面容。請記住，你們被塑造，是為了成就更偉大的使命。

這些，是你們在取得學位的同時所培養出的品格。當今世界的變化速度從未如此迅速，但它或許也不會再比今天更快了。所以，請好好慶祝今天。為你們的成就感到自豪。請擁抱你們的父母、丈夫、妻子、孩子；請拍照留念，開懷大笑，盡情歡慶。你們值得擁有這份喜悅。

Your time at USJ has not only been about the long late nights in front of your computer screen, the early mornings, the many hours in the library, the lectures, or the examinations that tested your mind.

But there has been more.

There were the happy moments you shared with your friends and colleagues. There were the moments of pride, when your presentation came out almost perfect. And there were the moments of gratitude. Those moments when you thought you were alone, tired and ready to stop, and someone came along and gave you a hand, just when you needed it most. 

That is what made your time at USJ truly meaningful. Not just the hard work, but the kindness you gave and received along the way.

Our goal was not only to prepare you as a professional in your field, with the necessary knowledge, the skills, and the discipline; we do not doubt that we have succeeded, but to form a professional who does not follow the crowd and is unwilling to be indifferent to the world. And this very way of being is the proof that we have succeeded in what we set out to do.

That is the USJ difference. And if you leave this auditorium today without understanding that difference, if you think your degree is merely a passport to personal advancement, then we, the entire USJ community, will have failed you. And worse: you will have failed yourselves.

The world will offer you success: money, titles, comfort. Go ahead, build a career. Earn a good living. Enjoy the fruit of your work. There is nothing wrong with any of that. But do not forget that you are meant to be different. Do not lose the uniqueness that USJ has shaped in you. Do not trade your ability to care for the sake of fitting in. The world may ask you to follow its rules, to stay quiet, to look away. But you were not made to blend in. You were made to stand out, not for the sake of standing out, but because you see what others refuse to see. So, continue. Continue to be different. Continue to ask the hard questions. Continue to refuse indifference. 

Class of 2026, you have made us proud while you were with us. Go now, and be the reason the world becomes a little more just, a little more kind, and a lot less indifferent.

To every one of you, whether you are about to enter a classroom for the first time or have spent years teaching already, I say this: This PGDE is not simply a diploma. USJ has given you something new. It has given you a different way to understand education, one that is unlike the way you understood it before you arrived. It has changed how you look at teaching, questioned the ideas you once held as true, and shown you that teaching is not just about delivering lessons, but about seeing each student as a whole person. 

You have not just learned more techniques. You have started to see your work, your students, and your classroom with fresh eyes. USJ has helped you understand that your role is not to have all the answers, but to keep asking the right questions. You came here with your own experiences, your own struggles, and your own strengths. And USJ has added to them: a fresh lens, a renewed sense of purpose, and the courage to try a different path. 

So when you return to your schools, your students, and your daily work, carry this new gift with you. You did not come here to stay the same. You came here to receive something new. And you have!

As PGDE graduates, you are architects of futures. But before you try building those futures, take a moment to look back. Remember the teacher who inspired you. The teacher you still speak of with pride, maybe even with tears. The teacher you said to yourself, “One day, I want to be like her or him.” Today, that day has come. Now you have the opportunity to be that teacher. 

You will face challenges. There will be days when a lesson fails despite hours of preparation. Days when a student is unreachable.  When a parent’s angry email ruins your evening. Days when you will ask yourselves, “Why did I choose this?” There will be moments when you feel like giving up. When you hear friends in other jobs talk about higher pay, quieter days, and weekends that actually feel like weekends. There will be mornings you think about changing your career, maybe something simpler, something quieter, something that does not drain your heart every single day. There will be moments you ask yourself, “Is this really worth it?

On those hard days, and they will come, remember why you started. Remember the teacher who changed your life. Remember the student who will one day say your name the way you say your favorite teacher’s name. Remember that you did not come this far to only come this far. Remember that the greatest things are never built in comfort. They are built in struggle, in doubt, in the quiet choice to show up again and again. You will be tired. You will be tested. You will be tempted to walk away. But if you stay, if you keep showing up, keep believing, keep trying, you will become the teacher someone remembers for a lifetime. So when the hard days come, take a breath. Take a step. And then take another. Because on the other side of that struggle is a student who needed you to stay.

And so, as we close this ceremony, remember this: You carry the spirit of Saint Joseph University. You carry a new vision. You carry the belief that every student matters, every lesson counts, and every day is another chance to change a life. Go with courage. Go with kindness. Go and be the teacher you once needed.

Distinguished guests, esteemed faculty, proud families, and my fellow graduates of the class of 2026,

There’s a well-known saying in academia that a PhD student experiences two moments of pure happiness: the first is the day you receive your acceptance letter, and the second is… well, this one. Today. Looking out at all of your smiling faces, I can officially confirm the rumors are true. This second day is absolutely glorious. We made it! And it is my greatest honor to share this moment of collective relief and profound joy with all of you.

Doctoral study is a journey into the deepest parts of our own minds. For me, as a graduate in psychology and a practitioner in the healthcare and education sectors, during the process of pursuing a doctoral degree, this rigorous academic training empowered us to elevate my professional experience and research, allowing me to push the boundaries in both theory and application. And I have no doubt that my fellow graduates, whether you were pioneering new business models in Business Administration, or designing future classrooms in Education, we all learned the true meaning of grit, the power of a growth mindset, and the humility that comes from realizing how much more there is to learn. What’s more important, this journey made us believe our work can, and will, make a difference.

Doctoral study is a journey we never walk alone. To our professors and mentors: thank you for being our first and most crucial intellectual partners. You challenged, debated, and refined our ideas, welcoming us not just into your labs and offices, but into the academic community. You have our deepest respect, not only as our mentors, but as the collaborators we hope to become. To our families and friends, who saw us in all our roles. We weren’t just students; we might be someone’s college or manager of a company, we might be someone’s husbands and wives, fathers and mothers. You shared our sacrifices, celebrated our small victories, and your unwavering belief was the anchor that held us fast in the stormiest seas. And finally, to my fellow graduates, my colleagues in the trenches. We were each other’s peer reviewers, confidants, and cheerleaders. The bonds we’ve forged here are as significant as the degrees we are about to receive.

Doctoral study is a journey not to a destination, but to a departure point.  And as we step forward, we carry far more than a title; we carry a responsibility. Here in Macau, our community is asking profound questions: How do we care for an aging population with dignity? How do we reimagine education in the age of AI? How do we build a truly diversified and resilient economy? These are not challenges for a single discipline. They demand the strategic vision of our business graduates, the pedagogical innovation of our education experts, and the human-centered insights from psychology. And, whether our path remains here or leads us to the wider world, the problems we face will be no less complex. But this is the ultimate meaning of our doctoral journey. It gave us the foundation to tackle ambiguity and the courage to move forward without a map. This is our training. This is our strength. Let us go forth and be the architects of a better future.

博士學習是一段深入我們內心最深處的旅程。對我而言，作為一名心理學研究生，同時也是一位醫療及教育領域的從業者，在攻讀博士學位的過程中，這段嚴謹的學術訓練賦予了我們力量，提升了我的專業經驗與研究能力，讓我在理論與應用層面上都能夠突破界限。我深信，我的畢業班同學們——無論你們是在工商管理領域開創新的商業模式，還是在教育領域設計未來的課堂——我們都學會了堅毅的真正意義、成長心態的力量，以及在意識到自己還有多少未知時所懷有的謙卑。更重要的是，這段旅程讓我們相信，我們的工作能夠而且將會帶來改變。

大家晚上好。我是工商管理碩士畢業生蔣頌軒。站在這裡，我的心中滿是感恩、不捨，以及對未來的無限憧憬。能夠代表全體碩士畢業生站在台前發言，我倍感榮幸，也由衷地向每一位順利完成學業的同學，道一聲：畢業快樂！ 

回首在聖若瑟大學求學的時光，兩年的歲月匆匆走過，卻沉澱下一生難忘的回憶。作為一所扎根澳門、融通中西的學府，這裡有來自全球五十多個國家和地區的師生，多元的文化、開放的氛圍、嚴謹的學風，陪伴我們走過每一段求知之路。初入校園時，我們也曾面對全新的教學模式、跨文化的學習環境，也曾在課業鑽研、學術探索中感到壓力與迷茫。但正是這段迎難而上的經歷，磨礪了我們的心性，讓我們褪去浮躁，學會堅持與思考。 

在此，請允許我代表全體碩士畢業生，向每一位悉心授業的教授、默默付出的教職員工，致以最真摯的感謝；感謝並肩同行的同學，彼此支撐著走過這段爬坡的路；更要感謝身後的家人與朋友，你們的包容與支持，是我們最堅實的後盾。

Distinguished officials, supervisors, principal, professors and guests, dear parents and fellow students: Good evening, everyone. I am Jiang Songxuan, a graduate of the Master of Business Administration program. Standing here, my heart is filled with gratitude, reluctance and boundless anticipation for the future. It is my great honor to speak on behalf of all master’s graduates. To every fellow student who has successfully completed their studies, congratulations on your graduation! 

Looking back on my time at the University of Saint Joseph, the past two years have passed in a blink, yet left us with unforgettable memories for a lifetime. Rooted in Macao and integrating Chinese and Western cultures, our university gathers teachers and students from more than 50 countries and regions across the globe. Diverse cultures, an open atmosphere and rigorous academic ethos have accompanied us along our journey of knowledge. When we first stepped onto the campus, we faced brand-new teaching approaches and a cross-cultural learning environment. We also felt stressed and confused while delving into coursework and academic research. Yet these experiences of rising above difficulties have tempered our minds, helped us cast aside impetuosity, and taught us to persevere and think independently. 

On behalf of all master’s graduates, I would like to express our sincerest gratitude to all professors for your dedicated teaching, and to all staff for your selfless devotion. Thank you to my fellow classmates for walking alongside and supporting one another through tough times. Special thanks go to our families and friends. Your tolerance and support have always been our strongest backing. 

As an old saying goes: **Diligence is the path to knowledge, and hard work is the boat across the endless sea of learning.** Graduation is never an end, but a new starting point for our future journey. My studies at the University of Saint Joseph have built a bridge connecting us to the world. The professional expertise, global vision and resilient character we have gained here will sustain us as we move forward. We understand that the road ahead will not always be smooth, and new challenges may lie in wait. But the courage and composure forged during our studies will help us face everything with poise.

大家好！我是傳播與媒體學士畢業生孫浩軒。今天能作為畢業生代表站在這裡發言，我感到非常榮幸，也十分感恩。

回想剛進入USJ的時候，我和同學們一樣帶著期待與迷茫。最大的挑戰是全英文授課環境。第一堂課聽著教授和同學用英文交流，我緊張得不知所措。那一刻我意識到，大學不僅是學習專業知識，更是突破自我的旅程。從不敢表達到能流利用英文做報告和討論，從不適應到熟悉節奏，這過程雖難，卻讓我明白成長來自走出舒適區。只要堅持，困難終會化為寶貴的能力。

USJ的國際化環境讓我收穫良多。我們與不同國家、多元文化背景的同學一起學習、合作。在交流中，我學會傾聽不同聲音、理解多元文化，並更尊重地表達自己。不僅拓展了我的視野，而且讓我體會到真正的溝通不僅是語言，更是理解、尊重與包容。

四年的大學生活並非一帆風順，我們經歷過熬夜趕Deadline，面對小組作業的壓力與作品的挑戰，也曾自我懷疑。但這些經歷教會我們堅持、承擔責任與相信自己。

在USJ，我們學習拍攝剪輯、劇本創作、3D建模、編程，並透過影像、聲音、文字表達觀點。更難忘的是第一次拍攝影片、寫劇本、做導演，以及首次嘗試用AI修圖、編寫劇及寫代碼的創新體驗。

特別感謝教授們的悉心教導與耐心指導，也感謝你們對我們遲交作業時的諒解。你們不僅傳授知識，更鼓勵我們獨立思考、勇於表達。即使作品尚未完美，你們仍給予寶貴建議，陪伴我們不斷進步。也感謝家人與朋友的一路理解、支持與陪伴。在疲憊、焦慮時，是你們的鼓勵讓我們重拾前進的力量。今天的畢業不僅屬於我們每一位畢業生，也屬於所有陪伴我們走到今天的人。

Good afternoon! I am Keven Sun, a representative student from the Bachelor of Communication and Media. It is my greatest honor to stand here today to deliver this message of gratitude.

Looking back on my arrival at USJ. I, like many of my classmates, entered with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty. The greatest challenge was adapting to a fully English taught environment. In my very first class, listening to the professor and classmates communicating fluently in English left me feeling nervous and completely at a loss. At that moment, I realized that university is not merely about acquiring professional knowledge—it is a journey of self-growth and transformation. From struggling to express myself to confidently delivering presentations and engaging in discussions in English, from feeling out of place to settling into the rhythm of academic life, this challenging process taught me that real growth comes from stepping outside our comfort zones. With persistence, difficulties can ultimately become valuable strengths.

The international environment at USJ has enriched me tremendously. Studying and collaborating with classmates from diverse countries and cultural backgrounds, I learned to listen to different voices, appreciate multiculturalism and express myself with greater respect. This experience not only broadened my horizons but also helped me understand that true communication goes far beyond language—it is built on understanding, respect, and inclusivity.

Our four years at USJ were certainly not without obstacles. We endured late nights racing against deadlines, navigated the pressures of group projects and creative assignments, and faced moments of self doubt. Yet these experiences taught us perseverance, responsibility, and self belief.

At USJ, we learned filmmaking and editing, scriptwriting, 3D modelling, and programming, expressing our ideas through images, sound, and words. What I will always treasure are my first experiences shooting a film, writing a screenplay, serving as director, and experimenting with AI tools for image editing, script development, and coding—innovative moments that truly expanded our creative horizons.

I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to our professors for their dedicated guidance and patient support. Thank you for your understanding regarding assignments submitted late. You not only imparted knowledge but also encouraged us to think independently and express ourselves boldly. Even when our work was not yet perfect, you offered invaluable feedback and walked alongside us as we continued to improve.

I am also deeply thankful to my family and friends for their constant understanding, support and companionship throughout this journey. During times of exhaustion and anxiety, your encouragement gave us the strength to keep moving forward. Today’s graduation belongs not only to each of us graduates, but also to everyone who has supported us along the way.

Finally, congratulations to the Class of 2026! May we carry with us gratitude, courage and conviction as we step into the next chapter of our lives, continuing to write our own remarkable stories.

Distinguished guests, professors, fellow graduates, friends, and families. Good afternoon!

My name is Maria Clara, and I am a graduating student of the Bachelor of Education Program. It is a great honor to stand before you today, representing my fellow graduates and expressing our heartfelt gratitude to the University of Saint Joseph for guiding, challenging, and transforming us throughout these years.

Time flies, and it does not wait for us, but it transforms us. It feels like only yesterday that I walked into this university four years ago, carrying fears, insecurities, and countless uncertainties about my future. I didn’t  know what to expect from university life. In fact, I had no idea what was waiting for me within these walls.

Many of those who met me at the beginning of this journey can testify to what I am about to say: the Maria Clara of four years ago would never have believed she would become the person I am today.

Within this university, which may seem small to those looking at it from the outside, I found a huge space to grow. I did not only learn about my field of study or my future profession. Here, I learned something far more valuable: I stopped saying “no” to the unknown and started saying “yes” to opportunities.

It was here that I learned to take risks, face my fears, and step outside my comfort zone countless times. It was here, through the USJ Chaplaincy that I discovered abilities I never knew I had. And I know I was not the only one.

Throughout these years, I had the opportunity to connect with students from different programs and witness countless stories of growth. I saw classmates arrive insecure and leave confident. I saw dreams being born, talents flourishing, and people transforming themselves.

Our university gave us much more than an academic education. It gave us opportunities to grow as professionals, but above all, as human beings. USJ taught us to take risks. It taught us that making mistakes is part of the journey, that starting over is not a sign of weakness but of courage, that we should never be afraid to stand up for what we believe in, that fighting for our values is worthwhile, and that perseverance is what allows us to reach this moment.

Today, I would like to express my gratitude.

First and foremost, to God. If I am standing here before all of you today, it is because He sustained me through every challenge, strengthened me during difficult times, and guided every step of this journey. Without Him, none of this would have been possible.

To my family and friends, thank you for your love, support, and encouragement. Thank you for believing in me, even when I doubted myself. Thank you for celebrating every achievement and sharing in every milestone throughout this journey.

To my professors, thank you for your patience, dedication, and constant encouragement. Thank you for believing in my potential even when I could not see it myself. Your impact goes far beyond the classroom and will remain with us for a lifetime.

Before I conclude, I would like to leave a message to my fellow graduates.

Do not be afraid of the future.

Every new beginning is born from the ending of another chapter. Today, we celebrate the completion of an important stage, but this is not the end of our story. It is only the beginning of a new journey.

Let us carry with us everything we have learned, all the friendships we have built, and all the experiences that have helped us reach this moment. The future may be uncertain, but it is also full of possibilities.

Believe in yourselves. Dare to dream big. Take risks, because they are worth taking. Do not be afraid to fail, and never stop starting over whenever it’s necessary.

在這所從外面看來或許顯得細小的大學裡，我找到了一片廣闊的成長空間。我不僅學到了有關我的專業領域或未來職業的知識。在這裡，我學到了更為寶貴的東西：我不再對未知說「不」，而是開始對機會說「是」。

正是在這裡，我學會了冒險、面對恐懼，並無數次踏出我的舒適圈。正是在這裡，透過聖大校牧處，我發掘了自己從未知曉的能力。而且我知道，我並非唯一的一個。

這些年來，我有機會認識來自不同學系的同學，並見證了無數成長的故事。我看見同學們滿懷不安地走進來，自信滿滿地走出去。我看見夢想的誕生、才華的綻放，以及人們的自我轉變。

我們的大學給予我們的，遠不止學術教育。它給予了我們作為專業人士成長的機會，但更重要的是，作為一個人成長的機會。聖大教會了我們勇於冒險。它教會了我們犯錯是旅程的一部分，重新開始不是軟弱的表現，而是勇氣的象徵；它教會了我們絕不應害怕為自己所相信的事情發聲，為我們的價值觀而奮鬥是值得的，而堅持不懈正是讓我們走到今天這一步的原因。

今天，我想表達我的感謝。

首先，感謝天主。如果我今天能站在各位面前，是因為祂在每一個挑戰中扶持着我，在困難時刻堅固我，並引導我走過這段旅程的每一步。沒有祂，這一切都不可能實現。

感謝我的家人和朋友，感謝你們的愛、支持和鼓勵。感謝你們在我懷疑自己的時候仍然相信我。感謝你們慶祝每一個成就，並分享這段旅程中的每一個里程碑。

感謝我的教授們，感謝你們的耐心、奉獻和不懈的鼓勵。感謝你們在我自己都看不到自己的潛力時，仍然相信我的潛能。你們的影響遠超課堂，將伴隨我們一生。

感謝我在聖大認識的同學和朋友們，感謝你們讓這些年變得如此特別。感謝你們帶來的歡笑、交談、共同面對的挑戰，以及在課堂內外創造的回憶，還有你們總願意與我一起參與舞蹈學會等各種活動。你們讓這段旅程中的每一個經歷都變得真正獨一無二。

最後，感謝聖大所有教職員工，你們常常在幕後工作，但在我們所有人的生命中扮演着至關重要的角色。感謝你們的支持、奉獻、不斷的鼓勵，以及對每一位走進這所大學的學生潛能的信任。

在結束之前，我想送給我的畢業班同學們一段話。

不要害怕未來。

每一個新的開始，都誕生於另一個章節的結束。今天，我們慶祝一個重要階段的完成，但這不是我們故事的終點。這只是另一段新旅程的開始。

讓我們帶上我們所學到的一切、所建立的友誼，以及所有幫助我們走到今天這一步的經歷。未來或許充滿不確定性，但它同樣充滿了無限可能。

相信自己。勇於懷抱遠大的夢想。敢於冒險，因為這些冒險是值得的。不要害怕失敗，並在必要時，永不停止重新開始。

恭喜我們所有人。

Good afternoon, distinguished guests, professors, graduates, and loved ones. On
behalf of the PGDE graduating class of 2026, it is my honor to share a few words of
appreciation on this milestone day.

PGDE graduates – we did it! Congratulations on your effort and dedication. We put in
the hard work, and now it’s our time to reap what we have sown. I am so excited for all
of us to begin our journey as qualified teachers, and I am so proud of every single one
of us.

To our professors – thank you for pouring your heart and soul into our learning. Every
one of you has shaped our teacher identity, constantly encouraging us to reflect on and
refine our core teaching values. You have shown us that teaching is both a science and
an art – ensuring we have theoretical knowledge while challenging us to think critically
about philosophical ideas and methodologies. We could feel the care and attention you
put into our individual learning journeys, checking in on us along the way to ensure we
were following through, and accommodating us wherever possible.

This programme has given us so much more than a qualification. It has given us the
tools to confidently navigate our future classrooms.

I know many of us received job offers during or shortly after our teaching practicum – a
testament to the dedication and excellence our mentors and professors have instilled in
us. To those who have secured positions – congratulations. And to those still searching
– your time will come. The right school is waiting for you, and this cohort’s talent is
undeniable. Whether you have signed a contract or are still exploring your options, each
of you has what it takes to make a difference.

To our mentors who guided us through teaching practicum – thank you for pushing us to
our limits to bring out the best in us, preparing us realistically for the challenges of
teaching. It has been invaluable to experience firsthand what will soon be our careers.

I was deeply inspired while observing my mentor during practicum, watching the way
she paid attention to little details of every student and adjusted herself accordingly to
uplift them not only academically but mentally and emotionally as well. I aspire to
replicate that with my future students

I would also like to thank the USJ coordinators and organizers who ensured we all had
this opportunity.

I’d like to share a brief personal story. I am originally from Macau but moved to Canada
for ten years, returning just a month before this program began. You can imagine how
fast-paced it was to settle my family while starting this intense journey.

I could not have done this without my family. To my husband – thank you for supporting
me even as you felt lost in a new place. I remember days when my daughter would
barely see me – I left for internship in the morning, returned briefly during her nap, then
headed out again for classes. Sometimes she would wake up as I walked out the door
and begin crying. You were her rock as much as you were mine.

To my mother – thank you for being there for my family when I was too occupied. And
thank you for your personal guidance. As a teacher of over twenty years yourself, you
have raised me and taught me since childhood, and you continue to impart invaluable
lessons as I aspire to be a teacher just as you are.

To all our families and loved ones – thank you for believing in and supporting us during
our late-night assignments and immersive practicums. Your encouragement pushed us
through, and we stand before you proudly today to share our accomplishments.

Since this is a postgraduate program, most of us juggled more than just the role of
full-time student. It has been demanding and exhausting, but we persevered.

Class of 2026 – it has been my honor to know all of you. Going through this program
with you has been inspiring. I will always treasure our philosophical debates, shared
laughter, and the support we offered and continue to offer each other. You have shown
me the strength of united collaboration and we have grown into a little family of aspiring
teachers.

I look forward to our paths crossing in the workforce. Macau’s schools will be lucky to
have such dedicated teachers. Congratulations to all of us, and thank you for listening.

PGDE畢業生們——我們做到了！恭喜大家的努力與付出。我們辛勤耕耘，現在是收穫成果的時刻。我為我們即將以合資格教師的身份展開新旅程感到無比興奮，也為我們每一個人感到驕傲。

各位教授，感謝你們全心全意地投入教導我們。你們每一位都塑造了我們的教師身份，不斷鼓勵我們反思和精進核心教學價值。你們讓我們明白，教學既是一門科學，也是一門藝術——既確保我們掌握理論知識，同時也挑戰我們批判性地思考哲學理念與教學方法。我們能感受到你們對我們個人學習旅程的關懷與用心，不時關心我們的進度，確保我們跟上步伐，並盡可能地給予我們彈性與支援。

這個課程帶給我們的遠不止一張文憑，它賦予了我們自信地駕馭未來教室的能力與工具。

我知道我們當中有許多人在教學實習期間或結束後不久便收到了工作錄取通知——這正正體現了導師和教授們在我們身上所灌注的專業與卓越。已獲聘用的同學，恭喜你們；仍在尋找機會的同學，屬於你們的時刻也一定會到來，合適的學校正在等待你們，而這一屆同學的才華是毋庸置疑的。無論你們是否已簽約，或仍在探索選項，你們每一個人都具備改變學生命運的能力。

各位在實習期間指導我們的導師，感謝你們鞭策我們挑戰極限，激發我們的最佳表現，並讓我們真實地面對教學工作的挑戰。能夠親身體驗即將成為我們事業的教學現場，實在是無比寶貴的經歷。

在實習期間，觀察我的指導老師的教學令我深受啟發。我看着她如何關注每個學生的細微之處，並相應地調整自己，不僅在學業上，也在心理和情感上扶持他們。我期望將來也能以同樣的方式對待我的學生。

我亦要感謝聖大的行政人員，確保我們擁有這個寶貴的學習機會。

我想分享一個簡短的個人故事。我原是澳門人，但在加拿大生活了十年，並在課程開始前一個月才回到澳門。大家可以想像，在展開這段緊湊的學習旅程的同時，還要安頓好我的家庭，節奏是多麼的快速。

如果沒有我的家人，我絕對無法走到今天。感謝我的丈夫——即使你在一個陌生的地方感到迷茫，仍一直支持着我。我記得有些日子，我的女兒幾乎見不到我——早上我出門去實習，趁她午睡時短暫回家，然後又趕去上課。有時她在我出門時醒來，開始哭泣。你是她的依靠，同時也是我的依靠。

感謝我的母親——在我分身不暇時，你為我的家庭付出。也感謝你一直以來的悉心教導。作為一位從教二十多年的教師，你從小養育我、教導我，而在我立志追隨你的腳步成為教師之際，你依然繼續向我傳授寶貴的人生與教學智慧。

感謝我們所有的家人和摯愛——在我們熬夜趕作業、全心投入實習的日子裡，你們相信我們、支持我們。你們的鼓勵推動我們堅持下去，今天我們驕傲地站在你們面前，與你們分享我們的成就。

由於這是學位後文憑課程，我們大多數人不僅僅是全日制學生，還要兼顧多個角色。過程既艱辛又耗神，但我們堅持了下來。

2026屆的同學們——能夠認識你們所有人，是我的榮幸。與你們一同走過這段課程，讓我深受啟發。我會永遠珍惜我們之間的哲學思辨、歡聲笑語，以及我們彼此給予並持續給予的支持。你們讓我看見團結協作的力量，而我們也已在不知不覺間成為了一個充滿熱忱的教師小家庭。

我期待我們在職場上再次相遇。澳門的學校能擁有如此盡心盡力的教師，實在是他們的福氣。恭喜我們所有人，也感謝各位的聆聽。

我十分榮幸，今天能夠代表學位後文憑教育課程的畢業生在此致詞，亦懷著感恩的心和喜悅的心情，與大家共同見證這個重要時刻。

首先，我代表全體畢業生，向澳門聖若瑟大學致以最衷心的感謝。感謝聖若瑟大學為我們提供優質的學習環境與專業培訓，讓我們在過去一年裡得以充實自我、拓展視野，並進一步提升教育專業素養。

同時，我們亦衷心感謝每一位教授和導師的悉心教導。你們不僅向我們傳授教育理論與實踐知識，更以自身對教育的熱誠與堅持，啟發我們思考教育的真正價值。你們的鼓勵與支持，成為了我們在學習道路上不斷前進的力量。

回顧過去一年，相信每位同學都經歷了不少挑戰。我們兼顧工作及家庭，同時完成課堂、教學實習及研究報告。過程中或許曾感到疲憊與壓力，但正因為有老師的指導、同學之間的互相鼓勵，我們才能夠克服困難，順利完成這段寶貴的學習旅程。

在眾多學習經歷中，我們印象最深刻的就是教學實習。它讓我們有機會將課堂上學習的教育理論和教學策略應用於真實教學情境之中，透過與學生的互動和觀察學生的學習表現，從而調整教學內容與方法，並在每次的反思中改進。同時，聖大的指導老師及在校指導老師的專業指導和個人經驗分享，亦讓我們對教師的專業責任和教育使命有更深刻的體會。更讓我們明白，教育不只是知識的傳授，更是生命影響生命的歷程。作為教育工作者，我們肩負培育下一代的責任，並應以專業精神、關愛之心和終身學習的態度，陪伴學生探索及成長。

今天的畢業禮，不是學習的終點，而是另一個新的起點。未來無論我們身處任何的教育崗位，我們都會秉持教育初心，實踐所學的知識，為學生的成長和社會的發展貢獻自己的最大的力量。

最後，我謹代表全體畢業生，再次向所有曾經支持、鼓勵和陪伴我們的人送上最真誠的謝意。亦祝願各位畢業同學前程似錦、教育理想得以實現；祝願各位老師身體健康，繼續陪伴和啟發更多學生成長；祝願澳門聖若瑟大學持續發展，培育更多專業的社會人才。
