Representatives from the Domingos Lam Centre for Research in Education (DLCRE) attended the 3rd Conference of the China-U.S. Alliance of College Teachers of Chinese (CUACTC 2026) held at the Macau University of Science and Technology earlier in June 2026.
Prof. Miranda Chi Kuan MAK, Coordinator of the DLCRE, together with Master’s graduate Ms. Ka Kei LAO and research collaborator Ms. Tao TAO, presented two papers entitled “Exploring the Impact of Multisensory and Digital Teaching on Third-grade Students’ Memory Retention in Chinese Language Learning” and “A Comparative Study of Chinese Pinyin Textbooks from L1 and L2 Perspectives: An Suitability Analysis Based on Mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Overseas Editions”, and engaged in meaningful exchanges with the conference participants on Chinese language learning and teaching materials.
The presentations highlighted the effectiveness of multi-sensory and digital teaching on Chinese language learning, as well as the importance of tailoring instructional materials for Pinyin to the diverse student backgrounds (ethnic Chinese vs. non-ethnic Chinese) and linguistic environments.
