USJ Macao and Hunan First Normal University signed a Cooperation Exchange MoU and a Master’s Degree Student Referral Program Cooperation Agreement.
The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Hunan First Normal University officially signed a Cooperation Exchange Memorandum of Understanding and a Master’s Degree Student Referral Program Cooperation Agreement on 5th August, 2026, in Changsha, Hunan. The two parties reached multiple consensus on joint postgraduate cultivation, faculty and student exchanges, academic cooperation, and joint research platform development, jointly promoting the development of higher education between Hunan and Macau.
The signing ceremony was held at Hunan First Normal University. The USJ delegation was led by Vice-Rector Dr. Teresa Loong, accompanied by Dr. Emily Chan, Head Librarian; Mavis Kong, Head of the Academic Affairs Office; David Yang, Assistant Head of the Domestic Student Recruitment Office; and Marissa Lam, Assistant Manager of the Executive Training and Life-Long Learning Office. Hunan First Normal University was represented by Vice President Ouyang Zhangdong, who hosted the delegation, along with Hou Rong, Director of the International and Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Affairs Office; Liu Changli, Manager of the Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan Affairs Office. The signing ceremony was also witnessed by Tang Wai Keong , Head of Department of Education and Youth Development Bureau of Macau; Sophie Tam, Head of Division; as well as leaders and faculty members from other higher education institutions in Macau.
Vice-Rector Dr. Teresa Loong stated that this signing marks the entry of cooperation between the two universities into a substantive stage. In the future, both sides will fully leverage Macau’s unique advantages as a China-Portuguese-speaking countries platform and an international education hub, combining them with Hunan First Normal University’s profound heritage in teacher education, to jointly cultivate high-quality talents with international perspectives and professional competence. Vice President Ouyang Zhangdong expressed his expectation for deeper collaboration between the two sides in areas such as teacher training and cultural integration.
This collaboration aligns with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, including SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
