This achievement marks a key step in the University’s ongoing transition towards operational sustainability and environmental transparency.
The University of Saint Joseph celebrated reaching a major sustainability milestone at its Ilha Verde Campus with the presentation of the ARC Performance Scorecard token to USJ Acting Rector, Dr. Alejandro Salcedo. This achievement marks a key step in the University’s ongoing transition towards operational sustainability and environmental transparency.
The University of Saint Joseph became the first institution in Macao to commit to the ARC Sustainability Performance Assessment, adopting an internationally recognised digital framework developed by Green Business Certification Inc. (GBCI), in collaboration with the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), the organization behind the LEED rating system. Unlike traditional assessment tools focused solely on architectural design intent, the ARC platform measures real-world, operational performance using verified data and user experience inputs.
Conducted by UP – Urban Practice, these operational insights culminated in the benchmark report where USJ Macao successfully completed its ARC Sustainability Performance Assessment for the Ilha Verde Campus. The ARC assessment positions USJ as a LEED-ready institution, equipped with the operational insights and sustainability framework necessary to support future international certification pathways and performance-driven environmental initiatives.
