The 2025/2026 USJ Community Scholarships and Fellowships Award Ceremony was held on 24 October at the Auditório Centenário de Fátima in Ilha Verde Campus. Over 100 USJ students received awards in recognition of their exceptional academic achievements. The scholarships and fellowships were donated by 19 organizations and individual donors, with a total of 181 awards granted this year, amounting to over 11.6 million Macau Patacas in funding.
USJ Macao and Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation Renew Academic Partnership aimed to fostering cooperation in the areas of joint academic programmes, faculty and student exchange, and collaborative research initiatives.
The Department of Social Work contributed to this event, promoting the university’s social responsibility and supporting the development of prison education.
The Correctional Services Bureau held a graduation ceremony at Coloane Prison, summarising the learning achievements of 24 incarcerated individuals who completed their courses in the academic year 2024/2025 through the USJ Prison Outreach Programme.
A total of MOP 20,000 was donated by the International Ladies’ Club of Macau to the USJ Prison Outreach Programme.
Prof. Helen Liu, Programme leader of the USJ Prison Outreach Programme, attended the “Sixty-eighth session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs” and participated in the “Families As Active Actors in Drug-Related Issues: Transforming Support and Advocacy” side Meeting, in Vienna.
USJ's SDG Week Unites Students, Faculty and Community Leaders for the Sustainable Development Goals

The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) recently concluded its three-day SDG Week from November 13 to 15, celebrating its commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
On July 5, 2024, the ” Inmates and Juvenile Delinquents’ Handicraft Exhibition 2024″ was held at the Macao Science Center’s Convention Hall, jointly organized by the Correctional Services Bureau and the Macao Science Center, the Municipal Affairs Bureau, the Social Welfare Bureau, and the Education and Youth Development Bureau.
The MoU signifies a shared vision between USJ Macao and SISC to advance healthcare education and research capabilities.
The Correctional Services Bureau held a graduation ceremony at Coloane Prison, summarising the learning achievements of 27 incarcerated individuals who completed their courses in the academic year 2022/2023 through the USJ Prison Outreach Programme.
The University of Saint Joseph held a Workshop Series at Van Lang University, Vietnam, on a variety of topics including Green Architecture, Social Outreach and Psychology, Artificial Intelligence, and Design, attracting over a hundred students to engage in hands-on learning opportunities.
A total of 103 scholarships and fellowships were donated this year by 21 prominent local institutions and individual donors.

USJ 2022 World Social Worker Day activities - "Start Anew - Ex-offenders Service Exchange event"

The World Social Work Day activities were jointly organised by the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and the Macao Federation of Trade Unions at the Youth Centre of Macao Federation of Trade Unions on 14 May, 2022.
USJ and the Social Welfare Bureau have recently signed a partnership agreement to award “Outreach Programme – Prison Education Scholarships” to promote and encourage incarcerated individuals to receive higher education.
“Prof. Helen Liu advocated that we have always been convinced that education brings changes, which starts from the improvement in life quality. ‘Higher education’ promotes holistic development. She encourages incarcerated individuals to rebuild their lives and create a harmonious society.”
On October 30, the Rector, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan, the Dean of the FSSE, Prof. Elisa Monteiro, and the Outreach Programme Leader, Prof. Helen Liu met with members of the Correctional Services Bureau to strengthen the collaborative effort between the two institutions.

On October 20, a delegation of the USJ met with members of the Social Welfare Bureau to present key features of the USJ’s Outreach Programme.

University of Saint Joseph, in collaboration with the Social Welfare Bureau, Macau Caritas and the Association of Professional Medical Social Work of Macao organised an “All You Can Eat” Forum Theatre on 30 May 2015 at the Auditorium of Escola São Paulo.
