Vice Rector Vincent Yang attended Gathering of Macau Association for Promoting Higher Education on 2nd March 2018
On 2nd March 2018, Vice Rector Vincent Cheng Yang attended the Spring Festival Gathering of the Association for Promoting Higher Education Development in Macau. Being a newly created organisation of experts in higher education, the Association’s agenda is to promote higher education, improve the quality of education, and facilitate cooperation among higher education institutions in Macau and with other regions. The Association has nearly 100 members who are senior professors and scholars with experience in university management and education. Vice Rector Yang is Vice President of the Association. Since its creation in 2016, the Association has won the support from both the MSAR government and the Liaison Office of the Central Government. At this gathering, the management team of the Association delivered work reports. The Vice Director General of GAES gave a speech to talk about opportunities and challenges that universities in Macau will face after the new Higher Education Law becomes effective in summer 2018. Director Hong Bo from the Education and Youth Branch of the Liaison Office promised full support to the growth of higher education in Macau and further cooperation between Macau and the mainland in this field. Vice Rector Yang and other board members of the Association discussed possibilities of inter-university exchanges and recruitment of students from the mainland.
