USJ’s Prof. Nuno Soares Jury In The “International Student Competition In Architectural Design And Construction Of Bamboo 2023”, Thailand Division

Head of the Department of Architecture and Design, Prof. Nuno Soares, participated as a jury in the “International Student Competition Architectural Design and Construction of Bamboo 2023”.



On 6 October 2023, the winners of the Thailand division for the “International Student Competition Architectural Design and Construction of Bamboo 2023” were announced, an event where Prof. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design of Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), participated as a jury. 

Under the theme Bamboo Swing Game, the competition was co-organized by the South China University of Technology, Nansha Bird Park, in Guangzhou, Southeast Asia Designer Alliances, and Chiang Mai University.

The two 1st prize-winning projects of the Thailand preliminary round, “Rukhawithee” and “Paradise Machine”, from Chiang Mai University, and the King Mongkut’s University of Technology North Bangkok respectively, will have the opportunity to participate in the final international competition – 6th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area-Asean International University Bamboo Design and Construction Competition – where the winners will have the chance to build the structure at Nansha Birdpark, in Guangzhou, an compete with the finalists from other universities.

Prof. Nuno Soares will also participate as a Jury on the Indonesia and Malaysia preliminary rounds, where the winners of these countries’ universities will be announced in October and November, 2023.
