USJ Hosts Second Edition of the Doctoral Forum in Religious Studies and Philosophy

The USJ Doctoral School and the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy hosted the 2nd Doctoral Forum in Religious Studies and Philosophy, on 6 June 2025 at the USJ Seminary Campus.



The Doctoral School and the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) hosted for the second time the Doctoral Forum in Religious Studies and Philosophy 2025, on 6 June 2025, at the USJ Seminary Campus. Built upon the success of the first edition last year, this Forum explored the role of Practical Theology in Developing Imagination, Reflexivity and Wisdom for Research in Religious Studies with the keynote presentation by the Very Revd Prof. Martin Percy. 

Contributing to this forum, we also had Mr. Antonio, Wong Lee Chun, making a presentation on his advanced Doctoral research work on “The Hermeneutic of Gregorian Chant: 4-Steps in Creating Cantonese Sung Mass Propers in the Reformed Roman Liturgy” and our recently graduated Rev. Dr. Peter, Chang Pak Hung, with a presentation on “Rhetoric and Music: Applying Aristotle’s Rhetorica to Josquin Desprez’s Miserere Mei Deus“. Prof. Fr. Cyril Law and Prof. Fr. Franz Gassner made their initial contributions introducing the area o Religious Studies and Philosophy and participated in the debate.

Students also visited the Seminary Library with a brief presentation by Mr. Wong.
