USJ student participated in the 2nd Macao Universities Diplomatic Speech Contest

USJ student Mr. IP Chin Wang (Edmond) entered the 2nd Macao Universities Diplomatic Speech Contest representing USJ, and received a Merit Award for his outstanding performance.



University of Saint Joseph (USJ) student Mr. IP Chin Wang (Edmond)  participated in the “2nd Macao Universities Diplomatic Speech Contest” held at University of Macau on 30 April 2022. The theme of the speech contest this year was “A Community of Shared Future for Mankind”.

Edmond entered the final contest representing USJ and received the Merit Award for his outstanding speech, he expressed that it was a great opportunity to learn the techniques of public speaking.

Mr. Liu Xianfa, Commissioner of the Office of the Commissioner of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China in the Macao SAR, commended the 8 finalists for their wonderful performance. Ms Ao Ieong U, the Secretary for Social Affairs and Culture, responded that the Macao SAR Government will continue to promote young students’ understanding of national development and deepen their understanding of foreign affairs by organizing various activities.

The organiser has provided every contestant with the professional training on writing and delivering the speech. It enhanced their sense of belonging for the country, improved their ability to tell the story of Macao and China, enabled them to inherit the core values of patriotism and love for Macao in the future, expanded their international vision, actively integrating them into the overall situation of national development and continue to make new contributions to the development of the country and Macao.

Around 200 teachers and students from participating universities, representatives of the Special Administrative Region (SAR) youth organisations, along with teachers and students from previous Macao Youth Diplomatic Knowledge Competitions attended the event.
