USJ delegation attends "The 10th Forum on Psychological Guidance and Counselling at Universities in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Mainland China"

Dr. Edward Kwan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Health Sciences, and Ms. Helen Lao, Psychological Counsellor at the USJ Counselling Centre, attended “The 10th Forum on Psychological Guidance and Counselling at Universities in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Mainland China” held at Capital Normal University in Beijing from 20 to 23 July.



A delegation from the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) led by Dr. Edward Kwan, Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS), and Ms. Helen Lao, Psychological Counsellor at the USJ Counselling Centre, attended “The 10th Forum on Psychological Guidance and Counselling at Universities in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, and Mainland China” held at Capital Normal University in Beijing from 20 to 23 July.

The forum focused on the theories and practices of mental health and psychological counselling in the post-pandemic era for university students, and was aimed at psychological counselling professionals from higher education institutions in Mainland China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macao to exchange ideas and discuss the advancement of mental health education, counselling support and clinical supervision.

During the forum, Prof. Kwan and Ms. Lao attended several workshops and academic conferences to gain a deeper understanding of the latest updates and experiences in psychological counselling in the various regions. Through learning and exchange, the university’s counselling centre will be better prepared to better accommodate and support students from mainland China.

USJ is committed to improving the level of psychological counselling services and providing more comprehensive and professional support and development for its students. USJ has established close cooperation with universities and professional institutions in local and overseas regions to promote academic exchange and knowledge sharing. Participation in this forum is part of its efforts to support the government’s focus on the holistic development of mind and body.
