Dr. Teresa Loong, Vice-Rector of USJ, delivered a heart-felt welcoming speech. She first stimulated thinking through questioning and interacted with the students, helping everyone understand the importance of joining the Student Association. She encouraged the students to recall their original intentions when joining the Student Association in times of setbacks and difficulties. She also quoted a saying by Martin Luther King Jr.: “A genuine leader is not a searcher for consensus but a molder of consensus,” encouraging students to be open-minded and accept the opinions of others, and the best solution will eventually come out.

Following that, Mr. Ambrose António, the former Chairperson of the Executive Committee of USJSA, expressed his heartfelt gratitude and thanked the 7th USJSA for their hard work. Looking back on the past two years, he believed that the ways of dealing with people and things he learned from the Student Association would benefit him for a lifetime. He also emphasized that the spirit of the Student Association’s legacy is a long and arduous task, and encouraged the new USJSA members to start from the heart. He would also be more than happy to assist in the guidance work of the new Student Association whenever necessary.

Mr. Jaden Jude, Internal Vice-chairperson of the Executive Committee of the 8th USJSA, delivered his inaugural speech. He stated that students in USJ came from various cultural backgrounds around the world and the future goals of the Student Association will be based on promoting innovation, organising diverse student activities, and continuously accumulating experience in the pursuit of excellence, aiming to create an inclusive and supportive environment where every student’s voice is heard and valued.

Mr. Richard Adrian Pastorin Vallesteros, President of the General Assembly of the 8th USJSA, pointed out that the common vision of the student association has always been to create a vibrant and memorable student experience in the university environment. During the ceremony, Richard was invited to the stage to receive the stamp of the USJSA, symbolising the handover of authority.
