International Conference about Macau at the Macau Scientific and Cultural Center in Lisbon

Academics from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of USJ present their papers at the “Spring Conferences 2022 – Conference About Macao” at the Macau ‘s Scientific and Cultural Center in Lisbon.



The Macau ‘s Scientific and Cultural Center in Lisbon (CCCM) held a series of talks at the Spring Conferences 2022 – Conference About Macao (Conferências da Primavera – Conferência sobre Macau), from March 9th to 12th. Academics from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) were invited by CCCM to present their papers at this conference.

Prof. Isabel Morais, USJ Emeritus Professor, presented her paper “Remembering Helena Kuo’s ‘I’ve Come a Long Way’ From Macau to the Diaspora” (Recordando o ‘Longo Caminho’ de Helena Kuo de Macau à Diáspora) at the Education, Literature and Cinema Panel on the March 9th session.

Prof. José Manuel Simões, Coordinator of the USJ Communication and Media programmes, presented his final dissertation project of his Post-Doctoral in Communication Sciences at the Catholic University of Portugal (UCP), a  book titled “Multicultural Journalism in Portuguese Language: Case Study of Macau” (Jornalismo Multicultural em Língua Portuguesa: Estudo de Caso em Macau), at the Journalism and Media Panel on the March 11th session.

USJ and CCCM signed a Protocol of Cooperation in August 2021 to strengthen and expand the collaboration to develop scientific knowledge on the existing friendship ties between Asia and Portugal, particularly in Macao Special Administrative Region and Portugal’s relationship.
