The Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) and Oxfam in Macao have officially signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the commitment to empowering Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) students and advancing community development in Macau. The signing ceremony at USJ’s campus marks the beginning of a strategic partnership combining academic excellence and social responsibility.

The MoU was signed by Prof. Jenny Phillips, Dean of FBL, and Dr. Michael Wong, Director of Fundraising and Communications of Oxfam Hong Kong.  Present at the signing for FBL were Prof. Sérgio Gomes and Prof. Alessandro Lampo, while Ms. Aimee Tam and Ms. Kou Sio In represented Oxfam.

The partnership aims to create opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience in social entrepreneurship and sustainable development while addressing pressing community needs through joint initiatives.

“This partnership with Oxfam further extends the training of our students and events collaboration with the non-profit sector, which strongly reflects our Faculty’s teachings of Business and Organisations as a social unit promoting human and societal values,” said Prof. Jenny Phillips.

“Together, we can inspire the next generation to combat poverty and inequality through education and action,” echoed Dr. Michael Wong.

Prof. Alessandro Lampo, the BBA Coordinator, added, “This collaboration aligns with the ethical and socially responsible values of our BBA programme. It fosters ethical leadership and empowers students to create meaningful social change.”

The MoU opens to internships and joint projects, allowing students to apply their academic knowledge to meaningful social causes.
