Faculty of Arts and Humanities Collaborates with Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University to Foster Joint Training Activities

The Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of USJ is delighted to announce a significant step in its commitment to academic collaboration and international engagement with the College of Fine Arts at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University.



On the 18th of October, 2023, a delegation from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), composed of Prof. Carlos Sena Caires, Dean of the FAH, and Visiting Professor Vincent Ho, embarked on an official visit to the Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, located in the vibrant city of Guangzhou, China.

The primary aim of the visit was to foster collaboration and exchange projects between the FAH and the College of Fine Arts at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. During their visit, the FAH team was warmly welcomed by distinguished guests, including Professor Liu Zichuan, Dean of the Academy of Fine Arts, Ms. Wang Mingyue, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of the Academy of Fine Arts, Mr. Wu Zhenquan, Vice President of the Academy of Fine Arts, Mr. Chen Jingmin, Vice President of the Academy of Fine Arts, Mr. Lin Dong, Deputy Director of the Party and Government Office of the Academy of Fine Arts, Ms. Nie Qiong, Graduate Secretary of the Academy of Fine Arts, and Ms. Zhang Huiling, a joint graduate student of the Academy of Fine Arts.

The visit commenced with formal presentations by both the FAH delegation and their counterparts from Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University, offering an opportunity for each institution to showcase their unique strengths and contributions to the world of arts and humanities. The discussions that followed were focused on exploring potential collaborative initiatives in postgraduate studies, workshops and seminars, particularly in the areas of design and innovation.

After the productive meeting, Professors Carlos Sena Caires and Vincent Ho were invited to tour the College of Fine Arts at Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University. The tour provided insights into the state-of-the-art craft laboratories, classrooms, and offered the chance to engage with students specialising in jewellery design.

The collaboration between the USJ’s Faculty of Arts and Humanities and Guangdong Polytechnic Normal University represents a promising step toward furthering academic exchange and facilitating joint training activities. Both institutions are enthusiastic about the potential this partnership holds for advancing the fields of design and innovation in the ever-evolving landscape of arts and humanities education.
