Year-2 and year-4 BBA students took a field visit to Hotel Central Macau and the Ervanários neighborhood for their “WorldLab”.
Year-2 BBA students of Prof. Florence Lei’s “LifeLab” class and year-4 BBA students of Ms. Ivone de Jesus’ “WorldLab” class paid a field visit to Hotel Central Macau and the Ervanários neighborhood on 28 February, 2025.
Hotel Central Macau and the Ervanários neighborhood set great examples of urban renewal of Macau. Hotel Central’s history dates back to the 1920s. The historical hotel hosted the first luxury casino in Macau in the 1930s. The recent renovation was completed in 2023, featuring modern luxury while at the same time, conserving the heritage. The Rua dos Ervanários is one of the oldest streets of Macau, witnessing the history of Macau’s maritime trade. Today, the neighborhood has been refurbished into a cultural-creative district and a tourist attraction.
This field visit is an eye-opening experience for the BBA students and reinforces the knowledge they learned in class. Such experiential learning opportunity is an important element of the “LifeLab” and the “WorldLab” modules.
