The Public Lecture “he Future of Learning Transformed by XR Technology: Innovative Educational Possibilities with Physical Education as a Case Study” will take place on 15 March in Don Bosco Auditorium.



About the Talk:

XR (Extended Reality) technology has the potential to fundamentally transform the way we learn and experience education. This lecture explores the theme of “The Future of Learning” by focusing on physical education as a key example of XR applications and their impact. Specific initiatives, such as VR-based sports training and metaverse-enabled international collaborations, will be presented to highlight the practical implementation and benefits of XR in education. Furthermore, the discussion will delve into how XR technology reshapes learning environments, enhances student motivation, and opens opportunities for cross-disciplinary education. Through this presentation, participants will gain insights into the transformative potential of XR in education and its applicability across various subjects, with a special emphasis on physical education.

About the Speaker:

Professor Naoki Suzuki is an Associate Professor at Tokyo Gakugei University, renowned for his expertise in physical and health education, with a strong focus on integrating technology into educational practices. He holds a PhD in Education from the United Graduate School of Education, Tokyo Gakugei University, where his research centered on “Communication as Learning Assessment” in physical education. Over the years, his work has evolved to explore how innovative tools, such as virtual reality (VR), can enhance student engagement and problem-solving in sports education. Prof. Suzuki has authored over 130 research papers and contributed to textbooks approved by Japan’s Ministry of Education, including widely used health and physical education resources for elementary and junior high schools. 

In addition to his academic contributions, Prof. Suzuki has led numerous international conferences and workshops and holds leadership roles in key organizations, such as the International Association of Computer Science in Sport (IACSS) and the International Organization for Health, Sports, and Kinesiology (IOHSK). He has also served as a visiting scholar at institutions in Australia and the United States, fostering international collaborations in education and research. His contributions to educational research have earned him several honors, including the International Eminence Award and the Outstanding Associate Professor Award for innovation in physical education. Prof. Suzuki’s ongoing work continues to influence the fields of physical education and sports science, particularly in the adoption of technology-driven approaches to enhance learning outcomes and assessment practices.
