► “Philosophy Series” offers programmes for independent application.
A certificate of completion issued by University of Saint Joseph and Catholic Institute of Theology in Macao, CITM will be awarded to participants who successfully complete the programme(s) and achieve the requirements of granting certificate.
The D.S.E.D.J. 2023-2026 Continuing Education Development Subsidy Scheme is NOT available for the following programme(s).

TARGET PARTICIPANTS

I. Holders of Bachelor’s Degree before the enrollment in the “Philosophy Series” 

The “Philosophy Series” specially set up certain credits for abovementioned applicants. Learners who have completed the programmes with a passing grade results and have successfully enrolled in the Master’s degree programme in Religious Studies and Philosophy at USJ, in addition to receiving a certificate, apply to the university for “credit transfer” of certain credits from the corresponding programmes of the relevant degree programme. The University will grant credit accreditation arrangements based on specific circumstances and individual applications, and reserves all rights to make all final accreditation decisions.

If learners decide to apply for credit accreditation for their Master degree at the Faculty of Religious Studies and Philosophy in USJ, the difference in tuition fees needs to be settled according to the Master’s degree programme tuition fee for the respective academic year of admissions.


II. Individuals interested in the “Philosophy Series” who do not have a Bachelor’s degree

Upon completing the programmes under the “Philosophy Series” and obtaining a passing grade, learners will be awarded a certificate of completion. However, this certificate, as well as the number of hours studied and grades obtained, cannot be transferred or applied for credit accreditation towards degree programs at the University of Saint Joseph.


HOW TO APPLY

A three-step flow of “Registration, Notification, Enrolment” applies. Applications will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until allocations are exhausted.

Admissions information

  • The university reserves the right to decide whether to admit individual applicants;
  • Registration will be considered invalid if the enrolment is not performed during the required period; Registrants from the backup list will be notified by SMS sequentially;
  • Programmes may be cancelled or postponed due to insufficient registration.

 

Step 2: Notification

 

Individual registrants will be notified by E-mail about further arrangements (including Programme Enrolment / Payment Settlement / Commencement / Cancellation / Postponement, etc.). Registrants shall follow the provided guidance in order to complete the enrolment and payment procedures.

Remark: Registration will be considered invalid if the enrolment is not performed during the required period; Registrants from the backup list will be notified by E-mail sequentially.

 

Step 3: Enrolment

 

All the enrolment guidelines will be provided via E-mail, notified registrants must follow the listed instructions and deadline to complete the course enrolment procedures.

Remarks:

  • If the number of applicants exceeds the upper limit, admitted applicants who don’t complete the enrollment process by the deadline will be deemed to have given up automatically. Registrants from the backup list will be notified by E-mail sequentially.
  • The D.S.E.D.J. 2023-2026 Continuing Education Development Subsidy Scheme and the LLO Discount Scheme are NOT available for applying for this course.
  • Programme might be cancelled due to insufficient enrolment.

Withdrawal:

  • Registrants of Programmes confirmed to commence can request for withdrawal before any payment is made, recovery of the application fee will not be requested.
  • The paid course tuition fees or other relevant course fees are non-refundable, except for the cases of unsuccessful applications or course cancellation or rescheduling announced by our University.
  • The paid course tuition and other relevant course fees are also not transferable, and requests for programme swapping will not be entertained.

 IMPORTANT REMARKS (FOR LOCAL AND NON-LOCAL PARTICIPANTS)

  • A certificate of completion will be issued to participants who fulfill an attendance rate of 70% and complete all the coursework requirements.
  • Participants should attend the class on time. Local participants attending face-to-face lectures must sign on the paper attendance sheet with their ID card (no proxy signatures allowed); Non-local participants attending lectures online must log in to the online platform under their real name and attendance status will be recorded by the programme coordinator online. Sign in period of each session will be closed 30 minutes after class starts. The tardy participant will be recorded as absent from the class.
  • Applicant who needs to take leave from class or early leave should notify the Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office with relevant supporting document(s). Please complete and submit the “Leave Application Form for Lifelong Learning Programmes” to the Office before leave is taken (download form: click here).
  • Participants who fulfill the attendance requirements, complete and pass the course will be awarded a certificate. Local participants will receive a physical certificate, while non-local participants will be issued an electronic certificate. If non-local students wish to obtain a paper certificate, please submit a request by email to the Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office. All costs and risks associated with mailing services (if any) shall be borne and assumed by the recipient.
  • If a local participant’s certificate needs to be collected up by another individual, the applicant and the proxy must both fill out and sign the “Authorisation Letter for Lifelong Learning Programme Certificate Collection” (download form: click here) and provide the identity card of both party, either in person or in copy, to the Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office for collection.
  • Learners can access library resources provided by the library of University’s Guest Readership Program to support their research and learning throughout their studies. For details, please visit the library’s homepage and the Guest Readership Program.
  • In the event of any dispute concerning the matters in the “Philosophy Series”, the University of Saint Joseph reserves all rights to make the final decision. All data will comply with the “Personal Data Protection Act” (Law no.8/2005).

ONLINE LEARNING REMARKS (ONLY APPLICABLE FOR NON-LOCAL PARTICIPANTS)

  • Online lectures are only applicable to non-local learners. Non-local participants must prepare the basic equipment required for video conferencing (such as a computer or tablet device with a built-in or external video function, a microphone, and speakers/headphones) before the class.
  • When participating in online lectures, learners must ensure that their equipment is functioning properly and that the surroundings are appropriate. During class, learners must keep their video cameras on at all times to prove that they are attending the class in person.
  • Learners must send an email to programme coordinator notifying them of any disruptions or unusual circumstances that prevent them from attending or participating in class as usual. Supporting documentation must be submitted as proof that the equipment failure or disconnection was caused by a force majeure occurrence.
  • The class will be recorded throughout and managed online by programme coordinator to ensure that the class runs smoothly.
