The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao has advanced its international academic footprint in the Philippines following a targeted engagement at De La Salle University Dasmariñas (DLSU-D) in Manila on 13 June, 2026.
A delegation from USJ’s Faculty of Business and Law (FBL) traveled to the campus to deliver specialised postgraduate lectures and map out future student and faculty mobility programmes. The USJ team, consisting of Prof. Alessandro Lampo, Head of the Department of Business Studies, and Prof. Emil Marques, Head of the Executive Training and Lifelong Learning Office, was received by an executive panel from DLSU-D, led by Provost Dr. Christian George C. Francisco, which included Dr. Maria Virginia G. Aguilar, Dean of the College of Professional and Graduate Studies; Dr. Elma L. Mallora , Dean of College of Business Administration and Accountancy, and Ms. Irene S. Gueco, Director of Linkages and Scholarship Office.
To directly address the specific academic requirements of DLSU-D’s postgraduate cohorts, the USJ delegation delivered intensive sessions for MBA and PhD in Education Management students. Prof. Lampo presented a seminar titled “Conversing with AI,” which examined the real-world deployment of generative artificial intelligence in corporate strategy. Meanwhile, Prof. Marques conducted an advanced masterclass on bibliographical analysis and research methodologies for doctoral candidates.
“We walked PhD candidates through the methodological rigor necessary to produce defensible, original research,” said Prof. Marques. Reflecting on the engagement, Prof. Lampo added that these specialised exchanges establish the practical foundations for deeper, long-term institutional collaboration.
This visit represents a key step in USJ’s broader strategic initiative to maintain a permanent academic presence in the Philippines. The relationship between the two universities has grown steadily through recent reciprocal exchanges. USJ previously hosted an International Business and Trade Tour delegation from DLSU-D, while DLSU-D’s Dr. Joseph R. Estiller recently traveled to Macao to deliver guest lectures on customer service management to USJ business students.
During the visit, executive leadership from both sides, including DLSU-D deans and international mobility officers, held intensive planning sessions to structure upcoming collaborative degrees, joint research initiatives, and formalised student exchange programs.
