The Macao Observatory for Social Development (MOSD) at University of Saint Joseph (USJ), in collaboration with Macau Federation of Trade Unions (AGOM) and Associação Choi In Tong Sam, released the findings of the ‘Survey on the Current Elderly Care Services in Macau 2025’ on 17 November 2025.

The survey was conducted between July and November this year, targeting individuals aged 50 or above, with 801 valid questionnaires collected. Mr. Lam Lon Wai, Vice President of the AGOM; Dr. Jacky Ho, Director of the MOSD; and Mr. Lei Chin Tou, Director of the Policy Research Office at AGOM, attended the event and presented the findings.

The findings revealed that in terms of community elderly care resource distribution, nearly 80% of surveyed seniors reside on the Macau Peninsula. Regarding priorities for home-based elderly care services, respondents ranked medical care, daily living assistance, emergency support and personal care as their main concerns. Physical decline and insufficient caregiving resources were identified as the core factors driving respondents’ preference for home-based elderly care services.
