The University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao, has proudly participated in ArtTech Fusion 2025, held from 24–26 September at the University of Economics Ho Chi Minh City (UEH). This premier international platform brought together artists, technologists, researchers, and industry leaders to explore the role of art and technology in modelling a sustainable and creative future.
USJ was represented by a distinguished delegation led by Vice-Rector Prof. Álvaro Barbosa, joined by Prof. Carlos Sena Caires, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities (FAH), and Prof. Alessandro Lampo, Head of the Department of Business Studies at the Faculty of Business and Law (FBL). Their participation highlighted USJ’s growing contribution to regional and international dialogues on the future of art, technology, and quality education.
The event’s theme, “Co-Creation for a Wondrous Future”, framed the stage for the delegation’s key contributions. Prof. Barbosa delivered a keynote titled “A Collaborative Symphony: Multi-Stakeholder Co-Creation in ArtTech”. Prof. Caires explored the connection of design and emerging tools, discussing “Co-Creating the Future of Design: How AI is Transforming the Design Classroom”. In contrast, Prof. Lampo explored the topic “Co-Creation or Automation? The New Frontier of the A(I)rtist”.
Beyond academic exchange, USJ also showcased ten ready-to-market design products created by its design master students, a fruitful result of a collaboration between FAH and FBL in promoting new ideas and supporting its students’ entrepreneurial spirit.
The participation of USJ in ArtTech Fusion 2025 served to reinforce the university’s international academic excellence and elevated its strategic presence in Vietnam. USJ’s ongoing engagement with prominent academic institutions and relevant stakeholders serves to consolidate its position as a forward-looking institution of higher education. This commitment is characterised by a dedication to innovation, cultural dialogue, and the establishment of regional partnerships.
