USJ Prof. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University o f Saint Joseph (USJ), participated in the “International Student Competition Architectural Design and Construction of Bamboo 2023” as a jury.
On 3 November 2023, the winners of the “International Student Competition Architectural Design and Construction of Bamboo 2023” were announced, an event where Prof. Nuno Soares, Head of the Department of Architecture and Design of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities of the University o f Saint Joseph (USJ), participated as a jury.
The competition, under the theme Bamboo Swing Game, was co-organised by the South China University of Technology (SCUT), Nansha Bird Park, in Guangzhou, and the Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), in Malaysia.
The two winning projects of the Malaysian preliminary round, “Wive-Wave” and “Hello Future”, both from UTAR students, will have the opportunity to participate in the final international competition – 6th Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area-Asean International University Bamboo Design and Construction Competition – where the winner will have the chance to build the structure at Nansha Birdpark, in Guangzhou.
