USJ's Macao Observatory for Social Development signs MoU with the Macao Model United Nations Promotion Association

The partnership aims aims to explore opportunities for cooperation in the areas of human resources training, academic exchanges, activities and the development of the Greater Bay Area.



On 22nd March, 2024, the Macao Model United Nations Promotion Association (MMUNPA) signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Macao Observatory for Social Development (MOSD) of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ), with the aim of exploring opportunities for cooperation in the areas of human resources training, academic exchanges, activities and the development of the Greater Bay Area.

During his welcome remarks, the Vice-Rector of USJ, Prof. Keith Morrison, expressed his appreciation for the initiative, noting that this collaboration is a rare opportunity that can effectively cultivate students’ international perspective. He emphasised that promoting global citizenship education will enable local students to connect with the world. He hopes that this collaboration will bring positive impacts to both parties.

The Director of MOSD and Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at USJ, Prof. Jacky Ho, was also pleased with the collaboration, noting that the Association has been working closely with USJ since 2022 and he anticipates an even more active partnership in the future.

In her speech, the President of MMUNPA, Ms. Joanna Ho, expressed gratitude for the opportunity of cooperation. She stated that the Association will continue to collaborate in different areas in the future, with the aim of connecting “voices” of different sectors and fulfilling its mission of introducing global ideas.

Also in attendance at the signing ceremony were Head of the Department of Social Work at USJ Prof. Francisco Botelho, MOSD Officer Mr. Eric Kwok, Vice-Presidents of MMUNPA Ms. Peggy Ma, Ms. Sylvia Lam, and Treasurer of MMUNPA Mr. Ip Kai Hung.
