The University of Saint Joseph (USJ), Guangzhou University (GZHU), and Guangdong University of Foreign Studies (GDUFS) have established a Tripartite academic alliance.
The partnership was formalised during a meeting at GZHU on 2 December, which was attended by a USJ delegation comprising Prof. Alessandro Lampo, Head of the Department of Business Studies; Prof. Ansoumane Douty Diakité, Head of the Department of Law and Public Policy; and Mr David Yang, Head of the Institutional Development Office. Key representatives from the partner institutions were also present, including Prof. Xia Taohong, Vice-Director of the International Office at GZHU, and Prof. Zhu Hui, Deputy Dean. The GDUFS delegation was led by Prof. Ding Hao, Deputy Dean of the School of Business.
Spearheaded by the USJ Faculty of Business and Law, this initiative aims to create a platform for collaboration on various projects, significantly enhancing the practical learning experience for USJ’s Master of Business Administrative (MBA) students by integrating them into the core of the Greater Bay Area’s economy. “This partnership is a strategic priority for our Faculty”, stated Prof. Lampo. “It connects our students directly with the vibrant business ecosystem of Guangzhou, transforming academic theory into cross-border insight.”
The cooperation provides USJ students with immersive exposure through enterprise visits in Guangzhou and Macao, focusing on areas such as digital transformation and technology. It includes dedicated teaching sessions where USJ and partner professors deliver training and provide students with opportunities to build a robust professional network through direct collaboration with peers from partner universities in joint classes and real-world case study workshops.
A central pillar of this agreement is USJ’s MBA programme offered by the Faculty. The curriculum focuses on developing practical, strategic, and management capabilities, preparing graduates to lead and make decisions within a transnational business environment. This agreement directly enhances the quality of the master’s programme, ensuring that USJ’s graduates gain the expertise demanded by employers across the region.
The alliance also serves as a testament to USJ’s Faculty of Business and Law’s commitment to cultivating globally competent talent, aligning fully with the nation’s strategic vision for educational advancement and the integrated development objectives of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
