Students taking the Life and Science module visited The Venetian Macao for the Sands China’s Sustainability Tour to see up close how local tourism businesses practice sustainability.

A group of students of the Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) taking the Life and Science module and their professor visited The Venetian Macao in Cotai for the Sands China’s Sustainability Tour. This visit is a yearly event connected to the Life and Science module since 2015. It provides an opportunity for students to see up close how local tourism businesses practice sustainability.

The tour started with a talk about the Sands Eco-360 program, ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance), and how they contribute to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially in areas such as energy, water, and waste. This was followed by a site tour that gave participants a glimpse of the various sustainable practices being implemented: installation of LED and other energy-efficient lights, optimisation of cooling and heating systems, water-efficient systems, facilities for waste/plastic/paper recycling, and food waste compactors.
