USJ signed MoU with the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará (IFCE) aimed to develop scientific and technical academic activities.



The Head of the Department of Business Administration of the University of Saint Joseph’s (USJ) Faculty of Business and Law, Prof. Alexandre Lobo visited the the Instituto Federal de Educação, Ciência e Tecnologia do Ceará (IFCE) in Brazil.

During the visit on August 30th, 2022, Professor Lobo, on behalf of the USJ’s Rector, Rev. Prof. Stephen Morgan, and the Rector of IFCE, Prof. José Wally Menezes, signed the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the institutions.

This 5-year agreement aims to develop scientific and technical academic activities such as a partnership in teaching, research, and Innovation and to collaborate in the Postgraduate Programme of Telecommunications Engineering, mainly in applied Data Sciences and Artificial Intelligence. Likewise, mobility programmes for students and staff, joint organisation of conferences and other activities of mutual interest are sought.

The IFCE is based in Fortaleza-CE, Brazil and it is an institution created under the terms of Brazilian Law No. 11,892, of December 29, 2008, through the integration of the Centro Federal de Educação Tecnológica do Ceará, with the Escolas Agrotécnicas Federais de Crato and Iguatu linked to the Ministry of Education, is a legal entity, with administrative, patrimonial, financial, didactic-pedagogical and disciplinary autonomy. For the effect of the provisions that govern the institution’s regulation, evaluation and supervision and higher education courses, the IFCE is equivalent to federal universities.
