The USJ School of Education organised a one-day educational tour titled “Pathways of Knowledge: Visit to HKU and CSSHK”.
On 12 March 2026, the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) School of Education organised a one-day educational tour titled “Pathways of Knowledge: Visit to HKU and CSSHK.” Supported by the Macao Foundation, the delegation of 30 participants was led by Dean Professor Isabel Tchiang and included faculty members alongside students from the Bachelor of Education and Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programmes. The group visited the University of Hong Kong (HKU) for a full-day exchange centered on comparative educational practices and modern teaching and learning methods.
The visit began with a warm welcome from the University of Hong Kong’s Faculty of Education, led by Associate Dean Professor Lo Yuen Yi and Dr. Leung Kin Yi Promail, Director of School-University Partnerships, together with HKU staff and student ambassadors.
To gain practical experience, the group conducted class observations at Chiu Sheung School, Hong Kong (CSSHK). This primary school is renowned for its inclusive environment and diverse learning community, providing a unique setting for the students to see theory put into practice. During the concluding session, student representatives from both USJ and HKU shared their insights regarding regional education systems, campus life, and their personal experiences during teaching practicums.
Feedback from USJ students was highly positive. Many noted the effectiveness of student-centered strategies and the innovative use of technology and visual aids. Students also observed how differentiated instruction was used to support learners with special educational needs, offering them fresh perspectives to bring back to their own teaching philosophies.
This visit marks the third year of the partnership between USJ and HKU to encourage student exchange and collaboration. The School of Education looks forward to continuing this relationship through future joint opportunities.
The delegation was also attended by several faculty members, including Professor Jana Ho, Professor Iris Mak, Professor Miranda Mak, Professor Hao Wu, Professor Wenmin Zhao, Dr. Molly Fan, Ms. Tammy Chu, and Mr. Oscar Ng.
