USJ Macao Signs MoU with Kristu Jayanti University (Deemed to be University) Bengaluru, Karnataka, India

The signing of an MoU marks a key step toward staff and student mobility, joint research, and other mutually beneficial activities between USJ and Kristu Jayanti (Deemed to be University).



Following the January visit of the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Academic Affairs, Professor Álvaro Barbosa, to Kristu Jayanti University in Bengaluru (Deemed to be University*), the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) welcomed Vice-Chancellor, Fr. Dr Augustine George and Director of Global Networking and Collaborations & Research and Development, Fr. Dr Marialal Joseph, for a return visit on 31 March aimed at deepening collaboration.

In his welcome address, Prof. Barbosa emphasised the importance of building institutional bridges to advance global education. Fr. Augustine George then echoed a shared vision of collaboration and mutual growth.

USJ participants included Dean of the Faculty of Business and Law, Prof. Jenny Lao Phillips; Dean of the Doctoral School, Professor Adérito Fernandes Marcos; and Head of the Department of Media, Art and Technology, Prof. João Brochado, who shared concrete ideas for cooperation within their academic units.

The visit culminated in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), marking a key step toward staff and student mobility, joint research, and other mutually beneficial activities. The partnership reinforces USJ’s role as a multicultural hub for higher education and international academic exchange.

The visit concluded with a group photo and a tour of USJ’s Ilha Verde campus.

*In India, the term “Deemed to be University” (Dtu) is a title for high-standard Indian higher education institution granted as a special degree awarding status by the Ministry of Education of the Republic of India.
