The 3rd Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Students Sports Festival was held in Guangzhou for two consecutive days on 25-26 November. This year, more than 1,000 students from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao participated in the event organised by the Greater Bay Area Physical Education and Sport Development Alliance. The Festival included the annual general meeting, sports events and competitions, cultural performances and tours.
The annual general meeting, held at the Guangzhou Sport University, was attended by Mr Andrew Wong, Senior Officer of the Office for Student and Alumni Affairs, on behalf of the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) Macao. USJ was appointed as a new committee member of the Greater Bay Area Physical Education and Sport Development Alliance during the meeting.
This year’s Student Sports Festival featured a variety of sports competitions such as volleyball, tennis, table tennis, badminton and 3×3 basketball, in which members of USJ participated along with the head coach, Mr Andrew Wong.
Mr Andrew Wong commented, “This is the first time that USJ students have participated in the Guangzhou Sports Festival, and four student athletes represented USJ to compete in the sports event. It’s a valuable learning opportunity, not only to improve the students’ sports skills, but also to let them know more about Greater Bay Area.”
