The Social Welfare Bureau Hosted a Seminar on Gambling Prevention for Social Work Students

The Faculty of Health Sciences of USJ invited Mr. Un Kin Cheong and Mr. Wong Kin Pan from the Social Welfare Bureau’s Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment Division, The Resilience Centre, as guest speakers on May 22, 2024.



The Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) invited Mr. Un Kin Cheong and Mr. Wong Kin Pan from the Social Welfare Bureau’s Problem Gambling Prevention and Treatment Division, The Resilience Centre, as guest speakers on May 22, 2024. They shared a seminar themed on problem gambling prevention. The event aimed to provide the students of the Master of Social Work Programme with the latest information and practical experience regarding problem gambling prevention services.

During the seminar, Mr. Un and Mr. Wong delved into the current situation and related policies concerning gambling as a social problem, sharing case studies. The expertise and extensive experience of the two guest speakers provided valuable learning resources and practical guidance for the students. The students showed great interest in the topics discussed, actively participating in discussions and raising many in-depth questions. These discussions further deepened their understanding of gambling disorder prevention work.

Through interaction with the speakers during the seminar, the students gained a deeper understanding of the importance of gambling disorder prevention services in Macau. They posed questions and reflected on related issues, further enriching their professional knowledge and practical skills.
