The programme brought together over 40 students and professors from DLSU-D’s Department of Business Administration in the College of Business Administration and Accountancy.
The International Business and Trade Study Tour hosted by the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) for De La Salle University – Dasmariñas (DLSU-D), Philippines, officially concluded on 15 May 2026. The programme brought together over 40 students and professors from DLSU-D’s Department of Business Administration in the College of Business Administration and Accountancy.
Over the five-day tour, participants engaged in a rich and diverse itinerary that blended cultural discovery with professional insight. The delegation experienced Macao’s historical and cultural heritage first-hand and gained an in-depth understanding of the development advantages and opportunities presented by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Site visits included the exhibition facilities of Macao’s large-scale integrated resorts and the backstage operations of its advanced technological theatres, as well as on-the-ground observations of the cross-border e-commerce sector and an overview of Macao’s Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) industry. Through a series of engaging and accessible seminars combined with visits, the students developed a more comprehensive understanding of Macao’s business environment and international positioning.
The study tour not only fostered meaningful academic exchange but also laid a strong foundation for future collaboration between the two institutions.

During the study tour in Macau, I had a meaningful and eye-opening experience. One of the things I enjoyed most was being exposed to new environments and interacting with a diverse group of people. At first, it was challenging to adjust to different personalities and social rhythms, but I gradually learned to communicate more confidently and adapt to group dynamics. This experience helped me grow as an individual by strengthening my social skills and increasing my self-assurance in unfamiliar settings.
Another highlight was seeing businesses and services that are less common in the Philippines. Observing how these businesses operate—how they present products, serve customers, and integrate technology—gave me fresh ideas and a broader perspective on entrepreneurship. It was inspiring to see different business models and customer expectations, which pushed me to think more creatively about opportunities back home.
Overall, the tour taught me adaptability, improved my interpersonal skills, and opened my eyes to new commercial possibilities, leaving me more confident and curious about applying what I learned in future projects and personal growth.

The study tour was a very valuable and eye-opening experience for me. What I enjoyed the most was being able to observe real businesses and industries instead of just learning about them in books. Seeing how companies operate, how products are made, and how business strategies are applied in real situations helped me better understand the lessons we discuss in class. It made everything feel more practical and meaningful, and I became more interested in how businesses grow and compete in the market.
During the tour, I also faced some challenges, especially when trying to understand certain technical processes and business concepts that were new to me. At times, it was difficult to keep up, but I realized that challenges are part of learning. I made an effort to stay attentive and reflect on what I saw. This helped me improve my confidence and adaptability in unfamiliar environments.
Most importantly, the study tour has changed my perspective about my future. Before, my plan after graduation was simply to look for a job and apply what i’ve learned. However, this experience has changed my viewpoint. Instead of focusing only on employment, I am now interested in growing our own business. I have been inspired to explore opportunities, particularly in finding a possible direct supplier of aluminum composite panels here in Macao. Observing how businesses identify market needs and create solutions made me realize that I can also take a more proactive and entrepreneurial path.
Overall, the study tour helped me grow both academically and personally. It encouraged me to think beyond traditional plans, become more independent, and consider bigger possibilities for my future. A heartfelt gratitude po to all the organizers 💞

In my experience, my study tour in Macau was an unforgettable blend of cultural discovery and personal growth. What I enjoyed most was wandering through the MGM Theatre, because it was so interesting and exciting, it really made me want to throw myself into the entertainment business. The technicality and the art of the whole theatre’s machines and versatility is such a technical marvel, I’m amazed by the whole area and wish to see the area in action. Professor Emil Marques is also a very entertaining and enlightening individual, not only is the topic interesting but the way he presented and explained the topic is very concise and easy to follow. I’m inspired by him and his class on the history and business of Macau and specifically the Greater Bay Area, I can’t help but compare how advanced and prosperous Macau and China as a whole is to the Philippines.
Challenges I faced included navigating the crowded zones and overcoming language barriers in smaller shops. At times, the fast-paced schedule felt exhausting, but those moments pushed me to adapt quickly and enjoy as much as I can with the trip.
Personally, this tour reshaped my worldview. Professor Emil, Jose, Peter, and all the other people that I have met throughout this trip, have been such a wonderful and enlightening experience. I learned so much about the business industry and and the way Macau and the Greater Bay Area functions and operates, it really makes me want to learn more and connect with more people.

What I enjoyed the most during this tour was the lessons and experiences that I gained from the seminars and the places that we visited. I learned from Professor Emil the importance of having a good network because it gives you access to more opportunities and connections that can help you grow personally and professionally. I also learned from Sir Jose the importance of adapting to unexpected situations and grabbing opportunities when they are already within your reach. One example that inspired me was how they were able to continue promoting the culture of Macau despite the challenges brought by the pandemic. Instead of giving up, they adapted to live streaming, which eventually became popular not only in Macau but also in Mainland China. This showed me that being flexible and open to change is important, especially in business and tourism. Aside from the seminars, I also enjoyed seeing the buildings and the arrangement of places around Macau. It made me realize how important urban planning is in making a city organized, attractive, and convenient for both locals and tourists. I also enjoyed trying different kinds of food because it allowed me to experience a part of their culture in a simple but memorable way. Personally, this tour changed the way I see the world because it allowed me to experience a new culture and environment. It made me realize that there is still so much more to see and learn outside my own country. Because of this experience, I became more interested in exploring different cultures and learning from them. It also helped me realize that there are many business opportunities outside your home country, and that people should not limit themselves only to what they are familiar with.

The study tour to Macau was a powerful learning experience that balanced professional insights with deep cultural immersion. What I enjoyed most was exploring the city’s unique “East-meets-West” identity, where Mediterranean architecture sits seamlessly alongside traditional Chinese heritage.
A major highlight was visiting the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). Seeing their modern Ilha Verde campus and multicultural learning environment showed me how Macau serves as a bridge between different global perspectives. Additionally, visiting various major companies provided a behind-the-scenes look at the city’s massive hospitality and technology sectors. It was eye-opening to see how these organizations are innovating through “Smart City” initiatives and sustainable practices.
The experience was not without challenges. Navigating the dense urban landscape and adapting to a fast-paced corporate environment required quick thinking and flexibility. However, these challenges helped me grow more confident and independent.
Personally, this trip changed how I view the world. By stepping out of the classroom and into the boardrooms and campuses of Macau, I gained a practical understanding of international business and education. I returned home with a more global mindset, realizing that true growth happens when we embrace new cultures and professional challenges with an open mind.

My overall experience during the study tour at University of Saint Joseph was truly unforgettable and meaningful. It was not only an opportunity to travel and explore a different place, but also a chance to learn new things outside the classroom. What I enjoyed the most was meeting different people, experiencing the culture of Macau, and seeing how students in another country study and interact with one another. The university environment was welcoming, and the activities prepared for us were both educational and enjoyable. One of the best parts of the study tour was visiting historical places and learning about the rich culture and traditions of Macau. I was amazed by how modern and traditional influences coexist in the city. I also enjoyed spending time with my fellow students because we were able to bond, help each other, and create memories together. These moments made the experience more special and memorable.
