Star Peak International Investment visited USJ to explore collaboration

A delegation led by Ms. Crystal Lam, Director of the Star Peak International Investment Co. Ltd. visited USJ on December 2nd 2022.



On December 2nd 2022, a delegation led by Ms. Crystal Lam, Director of the Star Peak International Investment Co. Ltd. visited the University of Saint Joseph (USJ). The delegation toured various facilities of the university campus located in the Ilha Verde which included the 3-D fabrication lab, Adelson Foundation Audio-visual Studio and Laboratory for Applied Neuroscience. The goal of the visit was to explore more in-depth areas of cooperation between the university, Star Peak and Macao Youth Association for the Advancement of Innovative Entrepreneurship.

The current delegation from Star Peak International Investment Co., Ltd. resulted from the original exchange on talent training, scientific research cooperation, and resource sharing between Zhuan Chuang Group(專創集團)and it’s Taiwan, Hong Kong and Macau Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Centers located in Guangzhou.  The meeting between the group and the University of Saint Joseph during the Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) in October 2022 was organized by Ms. Mani Fok, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong and Macau Youth Innovation and Entrepreneurship Service Center in Baiyun District, Guangzhou and in the capacity of the Secretary – General of the Macau Youth Association for the Advancement of Innovative Entrepreneurship.  During the meeting, Ms. Mani Fok emphasized the complementary resources that USJ and Star Peak International Investment Co. Ltd. Possessed. Using the “industry, education and research” alliance model to facilitate the development of Guangdong – Macau In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin to serve as an extension role of Macau in the capacity of a service platform for Portuguese-Speaking Countries would work well.  By combining the resources of the three parties, an integrated and jointly built development platform for serving the youth from Macau and the Greater Bay Area can be realized.

Director of Star Peak, Ms. Crystal Lam pointed out the strategic location of Star Peak, which is near the “Macao New Neighbourhood” and adjacent to “Novotown”, will be a prime location in the in-Depth Cooperation Zone. She also agreed that there are many areas of future collaboration and the strategic fit between the three parties.  She further introduced the unique development of the Star peak project highlighting the food street focusing on Portuguese Food and culture.  Moreover, the future focus of promoting Portuguese-Speaking Country products and culture through media and events collaboration was also one key element of the development project.

Professor Carlos Caires, Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities responded positively with the opportunities of multi-level collaboration at the Start peak development project,  in areas of Portuguese language promotion and translation, the setting up of 3-D printing and media labs.  In addition, the possibility of internships could also benefit greatly the students within the faculty.  It was suggested a workgroup to be setup to analyze the areas and sequence of collaboration with a possible visit in January 2023 organized by the Macao Youth Association for the Advancement of Innovative Entrepreneurship.

The visiting delegation also included member from the Star Peak International Investment: Ms. Bella Lo – Marketing Manager, Mr. Jacky Ho – Production Manager and Ms. Candida Canavarro Ramos – Sino-Portuguese Cooperation Platform Events Coordination.

The delegation was hosted by Ms. Isadora Leung – Head of Communication and Public Relations Office; Faculty of Arts and Humanities members including: Professor Gerald Estadieu – Research Coordinator; Professor Tania Ribeiro Marques – Head of Department of Language and Culture; Faculty of Business and Law members: Professor Joao Alex Lobo Marques – Head of the Department of Business Administration | Programme Coordinator for the Master of Business Administration | Coordinator for Research Faculty of Business and Law and Mr. Emil Marques – Senior Lecturer.
