A group of Year 2 Bachelor of Education (BEd) students to visit Colégio Diocesano de São José 5 (CDSJ5) Primary English Section (PES) on the 23rd of November 2022.
Prof. Kiiko Ikegami from the School of Education (SED), University of Saint Joseph (USJ) organised a group of Year 2 Bachelor of Education (BEd) students to visit Colégio Diocesano de São José 5 (CDSJ5) Primary English Section (PES) on the 23rd of November 2022. The visit was part of the curriculum. This visit included observation of live classes and a meeting with Ms. Elizabeth Marie Ritchie, the Dean of the CDSJ5 Primary English Section. This visit was a valuable opportunity for students to enhance their knowledge and the techniques for developing school curriculums, quality lesson plans, and effective classroom practices.
The school visit allowed pre-service teachers to align their current knowledge with an authentic educational context in Macau and to see first-hand the challenges and the solutions used by experienced teachers. These all help to support the learning strategy of the SED, which is to provide theoretical learning and hands-on experiences that equip the student to become an effective teacher.
