School of Education Visit to HKHQ Forges New Practicum Opportunities for Students in Hengqin

A delegation from the School of Education at USJ concluded a visit sponsored by the Education and Youth Development Bureau to the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on 24 October.
A delegation from the School of Education (SED) at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ) concluded a visit sponsored by the Education and Youth Development Bureau to the Guangdong-Macao In-depth Cooperation Zone in Hengqin on 24 October.
The delegation, led by Prof. Susannah Sun and Prof. Iris Mak of the SED, comprised 26 students from the Bachelor of Education and the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) programes. The group visited the School Affiliated with Hou Kong Middle School in Hengqin (HKHQ) and was warmly received by the school’s executive principal, Chan Hong. During the visit, the students had the opportunity to observe classes and engage in in-depth discussions with the school’s teachers, which they found highly rewarding.
In the afternoon, the group visited the Hengqin Culture and Art Complex to see “Love and Peace,” an exhibition of WWII-era comics by Feng Zikai, hosted to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the end of WWII and the fourth anniversary of the establishment of the cooperation zone.
Prof. Isabel Tchiang, Dean of SED, announced that the faculty will be the first Macao higher education institution to arrange students to perform practicum in HKHQ This initiative is part of the faculty’s commitment to actively participate in the educational development of the Cooperation Zone and to continuously promote the exchange and collaboration of educational talent between Hengqin and Macao.
