Professor Álvaro Barbosa was invited for a Guest Lecture on the topic of “Media Arts: New Tools in Experimental Creative Discovery” at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi in Bangkok-Thailand.
The Media Arts, School of Architecture and Design at the King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Bangkok-Thailand, invited Professor Álvaro Barbosa for a Guest Lecture on the topic of “Media Arts: New Tools in Experimental Creative Discovery” on Friday, 19 August 2022.
This lecture is part of an ongoing academic exchange hosted by Prof. Jung-Chul Hur (South Korea/Thailand), also a Visiting Professor at the Department of Communication and Media from the Faculty of Arts and Humanities at the University of Saint Joseph (USJ).
Professor Barbosa discussed the Media Arts and Technology production process from the perspective of his personal experience as a Researcher and artistic practitioner since the late 90s.
The talk included insights about the processes, tools and techniques used in creative discovery, resulting in a variety of Media Artworks, ranging from Sound Art, Electroacoustic Music, Interactive Installations, Online Collaborative Art, Video Art, Generative Audiovisuals, 3D Animation, and more recently the use of NFTs as a framework for independent art creation and as a community driven decentralized sharing space. The goal of this presentation was to make a case for a symbiotic relationship between Artists and Digital Technology that allows for a behaviour driven Interaction model of Artistic Exploration.
